SPORTS Minister Stuart Ayres is backing the SCG Trust’s grandiose scheme, but an $800 million plan for a new stadium at Moore Park is crumbling.

Plus check out the Saint, Sinner and Shoosh segments for this week’s What The Buzz column.

SAINT

NOTHING to do with sport but I was walking down Pitt St on Wednesday and saw a young lady stop to give a homeless man a fresh sandwich and cold bottle of water. It was really beautiful to watch.

SINNER

THE Liverpool Legends’ visit to Sydney last month was a great party for all the old boys, but now comes the hangover. We’re told only a few of the Australian Legends have been paid their match fees from an event that drew almost 40,000 fans. Where’s the money gone?

SHOOSH

THE family member of an A-League owner, who regularly visits the club office to tell staff to work harder. The club CEO has now tried to ban this individual, which must make for fascinating talks with the chairman.

SHOOSH II

WHICH other Australian cricket legend fell out with Steve Waugh as severely as Shane Warne did over an incident in a Test match at the SCG in the 1990s. Unlike Warney, the player has vowed to keep the incident private.

SHOOSH III

WE are hearing an indigenous side will be part of next year’s Auckland Nines to calm down those who will be blowing up about the scrapping of the All Stars game.

SPOTTED

ANTHONY Mundine lifting weights in a Carss Park gym for the first time since he played rugby league for the Dragons. He’s desperately trying to increase his bulk for a Danny Green fight.

Current tenants of Allianz Stadium favour a renovation of the venue.

NOT IN FAVOUR OF MOORE

THE $800 million plan for a new stadium at Moore Park is crumbling.

Sports Minister Stuart Ayres is backing the SCG Trust’s grandiose scheme, but more powerful figures in government want the big money spent at ANZ Stadium.

Even the current tenants at Allianz Stadium — the Waratahs, Roosters and Sydney FC — favour just a renovation of the existing 45,000-seat venue.

NAME THAT GROUND

IT’S getting harder every year to keep up with the home-ground names for NRL clubs. The Sharks have parted company with Remondis and they are looking for a new naming-rights sponsor.

NUMBERS TO LIKE

THE NBA keeps getting bigger and bigger. The NBA claimed it has become the first professional sports league to surpass one billion social media likes and followers.

Four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers tops all players on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with a massive 66.3 million likes.
