Week 2 AFL Finals: Who's good to go, who's injured and who's pushing for selection

WILL Sydney risk Adam Goodes? And what about Cat Tom Hawkins? We look at the final six clubs' playing stocks in the race to the flag.

WHO'S hurt, who's on the block and who's on the cusp – the complete guide to your club's playing stocks.

CARLTON

INJURIES
Matthew Kreuzer (calf) test
Brock McLean (quad) test
Andrew Collins (ankle) season
Shaun Hampson (knee) 2 weeks
Dylan Buckley (shoulder) season
Andrew Carrazzo (calf) season
Mathew Watson (foot) season
Simon White (neck) season

ON THE BLOCK: Andrew McInnes was a late inclusion for Levi Casboult and did a job down back before being subbed off with five disposals to his name. His replacement Troy Menzel didn’t do much while Chris Yarran was disappointing and Dennis Armfield had a quiet afternoon. Tom Bell’s 17 disposals included six clangers. No fresh injury concerns although the Blues will manage Chris Judd and Heath Scotland carefully after they returned from injury yesterday.

ON THE CUSP: Brock McLean will be close again – he got to within 20 minutes of the bounce yesterday before pulling out (although he still managed to torment the Tigers, with his replacement Nick Duigan bagging four goals).Casboult was a late out but it’s hard to see him getting back in after Duigan's heroics. David Ellard was the only emergency who didn’t get a gig against Richmond.

Blues win back respect

AL PATON'S FORECAST: The Blues have a mountain of momentum and face a shaky Sydney at ANZ Sadium on Saturday night. The Swans prevailed by 22 points last time but that was in a downpour at the SCG, the expanses of Homebush will be a different story. Carlton have pulled wins out of the hat against Port Adelaide and Richmond in the past two weeks, can they do it again?

FREMANTLE

INJURIES
Garrick Ibbotson (calf) test
Nick Suban (ankle) test
Sam Menegola (knee) test
Max Duffy (hamstring) test
Anthony Morabito (knee) season
Viv Michie (knee) season
Tanner Smith (shoulder) season
Jonathon Griffin (knee) season
Kepler Bradley (knee) season
Clancee Pearce (calf) season

Lyon bristles at target claims

BEN BROAD'S FORECAST: What a glorious week this will be for Freo and its fans. The Purple Haze can relax, nurse any sore spots and then watch Sydney and Carlton whack each other for the right to fly to Subiaco and play them for a spot on the grand final.
The Dockers are nearing full strength too. Michael Johnson should return in a fortnight, while Ross Lyon will have to weigh up the pros and cons of playing an underdone Garrick Ibbotson - if fit - against the Dockers' opponent. Nick Suban's ankle should be fine.
Enjoy Freo fans, enjoy.

GEELONG

INJURIES
Tom Hawkins (back) test
Corey Enright (knee) TBC
Lincoln McCarthy (foot) indefinite
Hamish McIntosh (ankle) season
Jackson Thurlow (cheekbone) test
Jed Bews (ankle) test
Daniel Menzel (knee) season
Dawson Simpson (knee) season

ON THE BLOCK: Josh Walker was given a chance in the absence of Tom Hawkins and struggled. Josh Caddy had a quiet game but probably has enough runs on the board to keep his spot. The position and make-up of the cats' big men will also be a discussion point at selection after the mauling by Aaron Sandilands. Corey Enright is certain to miss with a knee injury, and his absence is a massive blow.

Balancing act for Tomahawk

ON THE CUSP: Geelong's all-conquering VFL side didn't play at the weekend after progressing straight through to the grand final. That means the likes of Josh Hunt, Taylor Hunt, George Horlin-Smith, Shane Kersten, Jordan Murdoch and Trent West didn't get game time at the weekend - but at least they'll be fresh should they be called upon against the Power.

BEN BROAD'S FORECAST: It was a tough weekend for the Cats. Losing a qualifying final is rough at any time, but copping an injury to your most reliable defender and a four-time All-Australian rubs further salt into the wound.
The Cats dispatched Port twice in the home and away rounds and will be confident of doing so again. But the Power's small forwards are a concern, especially given Enright's injury. That may prompt Chris Scott to bring in one or both of Josh or Taylor Hunt, or he may keep Travis Varcoe down back.
Then there's the second key forward poser. To stay with Josh Walker or punt him after one sub-par game? To bring in the sore Tomahawk or give Shane Kersten a crack?
Plenty of questions at the Cattery. Expect a savage reply.

Cyril Rioli

HAWTHORN

INJURIES
Cyril Rioli (ankle) test
Liam Shiels (ankle) season
Ryan Schoenmakers (knee) season
Matthew Suckling (knee) season
Alex Woodward (knee) season

Hawks not hoping for Cats loss

BEN BROAD'S FORECAST: Could the Hawks have asked for a better build up? Hawthorn is as well placed as any time to capture a flag, having disposed of Sydney with a clinical second half on Friday night and having got through that match unscathed. The Hawks would probably like Cyril Rioli and Buddy playing, but those two will be champing at the bit come preliminary final night.
It's going to be a squeeze come selection for the Hawks, but what a nice problem to have? All in brown and gold, wary of the Kennett Curse, will be willing on Port Adelaide this Friday night. But surely Alastair Clarkson's side is as well placed as ever before to deal with whoever they should meet in the prelim.

Alipate Carlile
Alipate Carlile

PORT ADELAIDE

INJURIES
Alipate Carlile (back) test
Robbie Gray (quad tightness) test
Jarrad Redden (hip) season

The man who slayed the monster

ON THE BLOCK: Ken Hinkley will be loathe to change a winning formula after the Power's sensational elimination final win. However, Robbie Gray and Alipate Carlile will be constantly monitored during the week to ensure they are fit to play. Sam Colquhoun was subbed off in the third quarter after minimal impact while his replacement Aaron Young was one of the catalysts as Port over-ran Collingwood.

ON THE CUSP: Paul Stewart was amongst Woodville-West Torrens' best in their win over West Adelaide on Sunday after overcoming a wrist injury but will have to hope for a change of team strategy to play against Geelong. The likes of Lewis Stevenson and Campbell Heath will also be pressing their claims at training during the week.

BEN HIGGINS’ FORECAST: Can the Port Adelaide fairytale continue against Geelong? It's a cliche but Hinkley's men will enter the semi-final with nothing to lose. The Power lost by 25 points at the Cattery in Round 20 but have every chance of turning that around at the MCG. The team's youth brigade have no fear and if they get a sniff, the Cats might just be a little nervous.

SYDNEY

INJURIES
Jarrad McVeigh (knee) test
Adam Goodes (knee) test
Sam Reid (quad) season
Lewis Roberts-Thomson (knee) test
Alex Johnson (knee) season
Tommy Walsh (hamstring) season
Rhyce Shaw (knee) season

ON THE BLOCK: Jarrad McVeigh is the biggest concern for the Swans, the creative half-back went down with what looked like a knee injury in the dying seconds of Friday night's loss. He also had his calf heavily strapped for most of the night. Another concern for John Longmire must be Gary Rohan. The speedster returned from a severe leg injury just a couple of weeks ago and had minimal impact against the Hawks (3 touches, 1 goal).

Longmire buoyed by Goodes news

ON THE CUSP: Adam Goodes is the man to watch. The champion Swan is set to return from a knee injury against Richmond and it couldn't be better timing for the team. Sydney need some inspiration if they are to defend their premiership and the dual Brownlow Medallist could be that spark. The Swans' reserves had the week off after winning their semi-final last week but the likes of Harry Cunningham, Brandon Jack and Mitch Morton are waiting in the wings should they be called upon.

BEN HIGGINS' FORECAST: Never discount a champion team, for that's exactly what the Swans are. Cartlon are up and about after gaining "finals respect" with their win over Richmond on Sunday but a trip to the Harbour City might be too much to ask. The Swans will not be taking the Blues lightly though but should still have too much firepower. Kurt Tippett barely fired a shot against Hawthorn, look for the big forward to answer the call on Saturday.
