Elon Musk got all the headlines when he sat with Donald Trump at UFC 309, but the real bombshell is the man sitting on the other side of the President-elect.
It emerged on Monday the 78-year-old “leader of the free world” was rubbing shoulders with two of the richest, most influential businessmen on the planet at the blockbuster fight night in New York.
Saudi sport goliath Yasir Al-Rumayyan was taking in the action alongside Trump as they watched Jon Jones put on a masterclass against Stipe Miocic inside the iconic Madison Square Garden.

Al-Rumayyan is the governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) group, which holds $930 billion in total assets, making it one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world.
Al-Rumayyan and Musk control $1.2 trillion in assets across several companies, including Space X and oil giant Saudi Aramco, The Sun reports.
But with Trump included, the triumvirate’s combined net worth is around $1.8 trillion — the same price as the latest US Congress spending bill.

It’s why Trump’s front row seat in front of the Octagon has been described as the “the most exclusive seat in sport ever”.
A photo of the trio together has also been described as “the richest picture ever seen in world sport”.
Further along the line of seating was also American businessman Ari Emanuel — CEO of Endeavour, the media agency that owns the UFC and WWE. He is also reported to be worth more than $400 million and is famously known as the inspiration behind iconic character Ari Gold in hit Hollywood TV series Enterouage.
The presence of Al Rumayyan has led to bombshell speculation the 54-year-old may be eyeing off the UFC to add to his portfolio of sporting assets.
Al Rumayyan was recently described by The New York Times as the “most powerful man in golf” after setting himself up as LIV Golf chairman.
The rebel golf organisation sparked a civil war with its breakaway tour and the sport is still trying to stitch itself back together.
Al-Rumayyan has also set himself up as chairman of Premier League club Newcastle United since the PIF took over in 2021 with a majority share in the club that was worth $400 million at the time.
To put it simply, Al-Rumayyan is everywhere.
He is on the board of directors for Reliance Industries, the largest conglomerate in India.
He sits on the board of global ride-share giant Uber.
His personal net worth is estimated at $28 million — but the power he wields makes him a force in world sport.
Some have even described him as the right-hand man to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Athletic reported recently Al-Rumayyan is one of Saudi Arabia’s leading “technocrats”.
He was all smiles on Sunday as Trump was handed Jones’ heavyweight world title belt by the champion himself.
Jones made his way to the Republican leader after the fight and gave him some public praise during his victory speech.
The 37-year-old fighting legend thanked Jesus Christ before telling the crowd: “I also wanna say a big, big thank you to President Donald Trump for being here tonight.”
“Trump Check it out,” he added before breaking into some of the former and future president’s signature dance moves, The New York Post reports.
Trump sat ringside at the highly anticipated event alongside Elon Musk, UFC CEO Dana White, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kid Rock.
Trump, who was greeted with thunderous applause and chants of “USA! USA!,” was also seen with UFC host and podcaster Joe Rogan, Tulsi Gabbard, former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Vivek Ramaswamy.
“If people at home could hear the sound in this room right now. It is so loud!” Joe Rogan told viewers of the fight broadcast as Trump entered. “It’s always loud when he comes in, but now that he’s won [the election], now that he’s the president again, oh my God!”
A campaign-style tribute video to Trump also played over the Garden jumbotron and included footage of the moment he pumped his fist into the air after surviving his first assassination attempt in October.
Trump has close links with Al—Rumayyan on the golf course and said earlier this month before his landslide election win it “would take me the better part of 15 minutes” to secure a deal between LIV and the established golf tours, something that remains elusive despite a framework agreement first being signed in June 2023.
It is anyone’s guess where Al-Rumayyan will pop up next.
