Women’s Tour Down Under elevated to UCI ProSeries
The significant growth of the women’s Tour Down Under has been recognised with its elevation in status on the world stage.

The credibility of the Women’s Tour Down Under has grown significantly after being elevated to the newly formed UCI ProSeries.
It will be one of five ProSeries state races in the world and the only race of that status to be contested outside Europe.
The men’s TDU is already on the UCI World Tour schedule. The UCI ProSeries is the next level underneath World Tour status.
Women’s TDU race director Kimberley Conte said it was satisfying the investment in the event had been recognised by the UCI with its inclusion in the ProSeries, especially in an Olympic year.

“The elevation to the new UCI ProSeries confirms our commitment to professional women’s
cycling,” she said. “We expect the race will continue to draw teams from around the world as the first race on the UCI calendar.”
Last year, prizemoney was increased for the woman’s TDU and it now offers the same financial incentives as the men’s race.
Australian cyclist Amanda Spratt has made the event her own, winning the past three editions of the race.
Next year’s race will take to the state’s streets from January 16-19.
