Cyclist Chris Hamilton is seeing the funny side of the serious injury that has forced him out of the 2020 Santos Tour Down Under.
As reported in The Advertiser yesterday, the 24-year-old ruptured a testicle after coming off his bike during a leisurely ride with his girlfriend Ivon a fortnight ago.
Hamilton required surgery to repair the damage, describing the initial injury as “instant pain”.
“I think every bloke knows the pain of being hit in the spuds, but this never went away,” he said.
On Tuesday, the cycling star embraced the unfortunate incident, which is every man’s worst nightmare, taking to Twitter to encourage his followers to have fun at his expense.
“Do your worst people, one ball jokes are off the table though. I still have one-and-a-half,” he tweeted.

2015 Tour Down Under winner Rohan Dennis had already taken the chance to poke fun at his fellow cyclist, tweeting: “He needs to harden up. He’s got 2, he only ruptured 1... I think”.
Hamilton, who rides for Team Sunweb, has been replaced for the TDU - which starts Sunday - by fellow Aussie young gun Michael Storer.
He will now focus his time on recovery, with an aim to still ride a Grand Tour this year.
