‘In my Swiftie era’: Roger Federer’s selfie with Taylor Swift send fans into hysterics

Roger Federer is living his best life in retirement with the tennis star with one of his recent posts sending fans wild.

Retirement is suiting Roger Federer just perfectly.

Despite quitting professional tennis, the 42-year-old 20-time grand slam winner is one of the world’s most recognisable and sought after athletes.

But even Federer may have met his match after he shared a selfie with Taylor Swift.

Federer exposed himself as a fan of the American superstar, who continued her uber-successful Eras Tour in a two-night swing through Zurich.

The Swiss maestro, who lives around 30 minutes outside of Zurich, said he wasn’t going to miss the chance to see Swift, telling People Magazine recently that it was a goal for the summer.

“We went to a lot of concerts last year,” Federer said, mentioning that he was even called up on stage to play a “shaker” with Coldplay in 2023.

“But we also saw (Bruce) Springsteen twice, and Elton John.

“This summer Taylor Swift is coming to Switzerland so of course we’ll go to that, and ACDC too.”

And Federer is a man of his word with his selfie with Swift going viral.

At time of writing, the post had more than 1.2m likes and endless comments as fans went nuts for the selfie.

The reactions ran the gamut on the page with some fans losing their minds over the meet up, while others professed their love for Federer but not Swift.

Another even told Federer to “Take this down while you still can”.

The Olympics official account commented: “When a King of tennis, meets a Queen of music.”

Federer has made sure to keep himself busy in his retirement, having had the Federer: Twelve Final Days released last month, including an instantly iconic ad campaign.

But his Instagram is also full of selfies with some of the world’s biggest stars, including Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, NBA superstar Steph Curry and plenty more.

Speaking about the retirement of Andy Murray at Wimbledon, Federer shared his secrets to creating a happy one.

“I was always supportive of Andy continuing when everyone else said he was not winning because he had to do what he felt in his heart of hearts,” Federer said.

“It was hard to watch his last match because I knew what he was going through. He’d love to play forever but I think he will see once he’s on the other side what a great decision it will probably be for his life and for his mind and body to get away from it.

“He might struggle for a couple of years but he might wake up the next day and go, this is the best thing, why didn’t I do this much earlier. It really depends on your life.

“For Andy, he’s all set up. He’s got four children and that is going to be kept very busy. Staying busy right away is great because what you don’t want – and I’ve had this on two occasions – is to sit at home on the couch and have nothing to do.

“You’re alone, kids are at school, wife is off doing something and you’re like ‘Now, what?!’ It’s a terrible feeling so it’s important to stay really busy and have a structure.”

And Federer has been keeping himself busy — so busy he had to send a video to Murray’s retirement tribute.

He explained he had “obligations”, having been on an earlier flight to be at Wimbledon in case Murray played singles.

Instead, he withdrew from singles, playing doubles with his brother Jamie to farewell his home grand slam.

As for Swift’s Eras Tour, in March Time Magazine estimated the tour would make an estimated $US2.165bn ($A3.2bn) over its 152-show run, having already become the highest-grossing concert tour of all-time and first to have surpassed $US1bn.

And as of March, Time suggested more than six million tickets had been sold.
