TEENAGER Macy Callaghan will be part of history after being named as the injury wildcard for the first World Tour event contested on a man-made wave at Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch.
Callaghan has been named as a replacement in the Surf Ranch Pro for ill surfer Tyler Wright who’s bid for a third successive world crown is over following her withdrawal from a third straight event.
Wright has missed the J-Bay Open, the US Open of Surfing and will now also be absent from the Surf Ranch Pro in California.

Callaghan, who competed at the Surf Ranch at a Surfing Australia pre-Olympic camp earlier this year, has been picking up invaluable experience as an injury replacement surfer this year ahead of her expected full time position on the women’s world tour as a rookie in 2019.
The former world junior champion has contested five of the seven women’s tour events held to fate with her best place a ninth.
The format for the Surf Ranch world tour event will see each surfer ride six waves - three lefts and three rights.
