Sydney Uni Flames import Asia Taylor pulls down another Player of the Week award

GUN import Asia Taylor has picked up her second Player of the Week award after what Sydney Uni Flames coach Cheryl Chambers described as an “astounding” display in a tough round trip last round.

Taylor was integral in the Flames consolidating a top three position on the WNBL ladder with games to remember against both Adelaide and Perth last round.

COACH SURPRISED BY FLAMES BIG WIN

In the first outing of the road trip Taylor racked up 26 points, 14 rebounds and four assists in a game best for the Flames.

Less than 24 hours later she knocked in another 21 points 13 rebounds and eight assists as the Flames trounced the highly fancied Perth Lynx by 17 points.

Taylor is now fifth best scorer in the league with an average of 17.8 points per game and fifth in rebounding with 8.7.

She is 10th on the assists scoreboard with an average of 3.7 and the second highest Flames scorer for the season behind Leilani Mitchell.

The Flames’ next match of the WNBL is against Canberra on Sunday at home.

They sit in third place behind Dandenong and Bendigo with a 10-5 win/loss record but five of their remaining eight games this regular season are against teams currently outside the top four.
