THE signs are there it will be third time lucky for Australian snowboarder Joany Badenhorst who has picked up a gold medal in the snowboard cross just a month out from the Paralympic Games.
Badenhorst, forced to give up on her Rio Paralympic dream of athletics success due to issues with her leg amputation, is hoping to make a big impression in PyeongChang after a disastrous maiden Winter Paralympic Games four years ago.

In Sochi, Badenhorst spun out of control in a practice run, with her upper left knee breaking in the high-speed crash.
On Wednesday the Australian team co-captain dominated her pet event at a World Cup in Canada to show she is right on trap for success in a month.
“All the riders were out in full force today, meaning competition was as tough as ever, but securing gold and having that a month out from the Paralympic Games is incredibly reassuring, and knowing that the hard work we put in is leading us the right way is fantastic,” Badenhorst said.

“I could not be happier with my runs today. I did the fastest time for the girls in my class, and managed to keep that momentum going until the very end.”
Badenhorst, who is slated to contest both the snowboard cross and banked slalom in Korea, lost her leg in a tractor accident on a farm when just 10.
