Erin Phillips’ twins almost stole the show on a memorable day for women’s AFL while mother-of-two Renae Ingles made her return to elite netball.
We take a look at what’s been happening across a wide range of sports in recent days in our weekly wrap, SHORT AND SWEET
PHILLIPS MAKES BIG IMPRESSION ON HISTORIC DAY
Opals basketballers Erin Philips lived a dream when she lead Adelaide to a historic victory in the first AFL women's grand final against Brisbane.
Phillips, who carried her four-and-a-half month old twins Brooklyn and Blake with her from the dressing room to the delight of the crowd, was later again rewarded for her efforts with the highly-sought after MVP.

NETBALL MUM BACK ON THE COURT
There’s no team in netball that needs a boost more than the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Lacking fire the last few season, things don’t look much different in 2017 as they warm the bottom rung on the Super Netball ladder.
But in one respect they couldn’t be happier with former Opal Renae Ingles making her debut in the new league on the weekend.

WILL LIZ CAMBAGE RETURN TO THE WNBL?
Ingles, mother to twins Jacob and Mila, returned to elite netball for the first time in 18 months in the Thunderbirds loss against the West Coast Fever.
AUSSIES HOPING FOR LOCAL WIN
Our top women are hoping to make it two-from-two at the Margaret River Pro this week.
Australia has four surfers in the top 10 on the world rankings going into the second event of the year, the Margaret River Pro.
WORLD TITLE RACE: WHO TO CHEER FOR
Stephanie Gilmore is No. 1 after winning the opening event of the year, the Roxy Pro, with the six-time world champion and defending champion Tyler Wright favourites to claim a second victory for Aussies surfers in Western Australia.
Sally Fitzgibbons goes into the event ranked third in the world with Wright, Nikki Van Dijk and Keely Andrew equal fifth.
LITTLE MAKES BIG IMPRESSION
Emily Little led the charge as Australia’s men’s and women’s Artistic Gymnastics team won more medals on the final leg of the inaugural 2016-17 circuit of the International Gymnastics Federation’s (FIG) Individual Apparatus World Cup in Doha.
Little made the finals cut for all three apparatuses she contested in Doha to end the event with two silvers in vault and floor.
In total Australia once again had eight gymnasts competing across all ten apparatuses in Doha, making a total of nine finals out of the 15 routines competed.
Overall on the World Cup circuit, Australia collected a total of 19 medals across the four events; three gold, nine silver and seven bronze.
MORE SUCCESS ON THE SAND
Triple Olympian Louise Grice and Rio athlete Mariafe Artacho del Solar proving too strong for the Rohkamper sisters, Alice and Jahannah, in the Australian Beach volleyball finals
In a powerful performance Grice and Artacho del Solar dropped only one set for the weekend.
“We had to really put ourselves on the edge this weekend, and to go for some new things.
“There’s been a lot that I’ve got out of it, but I think the most important thing is showing good teamwork.”
Just last week Artacho del Solar won silver at the World Tour event alongside Jessyka Ngauamo.
GIANTS CRASH LAND
It’s been a week for forget for the Giants.
First they had their initial fears that Kim Green was seriously injured confirmed when she was ruled out for the rest of the season with a ruptured ACL.
Then the team lost their first game of the season to the Melbourne Vixens on the road.
The only good news is they have still managed to retain their position at the top of the table.
