DRAGONS captain Sam Bremner says stars will be born in the upcoming NRL women’s premiership and more than a few with be wearing red and white.
The Jillaroos stalwart says a strength of the side, one of four competing in the inaugural league, is the hidden talent of some of the Dragons youngsters.
The Dragons have specifically adopted a policy of providing youth with opportunity in season one of the competition and surrounding them with the experience of players such as Bremner, fellow Jillaroos Kezi Apps and Talesha Quinn and Kiwi Fern gun Honey Hireme.

“There is a lot of uncovered talent in this side “ Bremner said just over a week out from the start of the four-week competition.
“We have some young girls who are unbelievable players. They are great,’’ Bremner said.
“I feel we will see some stars being born in this competition.
“These young players here are like sponges. They pick up things so quickly.’’
Bremner identified the likes of Keely Davis, Rikeya Horne and Jessica Sergis as players with talent to burn.

The Dragons had to wait until Davis turned 18 recently to include her in their squad with Sergis bursting onto the scene in the 2017 interstate challenge, scoring three tries for NSW in just her sixth rugby league game.
Horne made her Jillaroos debut at the Commonwealth Championships early this year with the 19-year-old making an immediate mark by scoring off her first touch.
“Keely Davis is just 18 and she is one of our playmakers and very versatile. I saw her in Tarsha Gale and she was impressive,’’ Bremner said.
“Rikeya Horne is young and fast and electric and she’s had an opportunity to play for the Jillaroos but only in the nine side.
“Jess Sergis has been unlucky with injuries but she is training really well. She’s had an unlucky streak but she is fast and strong and very athletic.’’
Four teams are competing in the first premiership which will run alongside the men’s finals series.
