WHEN London Olympian Olivia Price says she is about to embark on a crash course in sailing, she means it.

The Olympic match-racing silver medallist at the London Games in 2012 is about to dial up the speed as the only female skipper in the new SuperFoiler Grand Prix, which is set to kick off in the new year.

Price will team with former world Moth champion Josh McKnight and Harry Morton on a radical foiling boat that can do 40-plus knots.

But the SuperFoiler skipper admitted there would be a sharp — and decidedly wet — learning curve on the boat for her and her crew.

With most boats in the series still being worked on, Price has had scant time to acclimatise herself to her new, super-fast form of transport.

“I’ve actually only been out twice so it really is going to be a crash course, literally,” she said.

“There’s going to be more than one capsize for sure and I think I’ll be bracing for impact.

“I’ve seen the videos on social media. This machine is a beast.”

Four of the five rounds in the series have been confirmed and a three-day event in Adelaide will kick off the series in February.

The event will be contested by six crews, including one headed by multiple world champion and London gold medallist Nathan Outteridge.
