GIANTS and Swifts players have been overlooked for two upcoming series of international matches but there was still good news for the latter club with stalwart Paige Hadley inking a two-year deal for Super Netball.

Hadley, with the club for six years, is the seventh member of the current NSW Swifts roster to rejoin for the 2019 Super Netball season.

HOLY COW: Best retirement present ever

Maddy Proud, Maddy Turner, Sophie Garbin, Sarah Klau and internationals Sam Wallace and Helen Housby all re-signed a week ago.

“Being a NSW Swift is something very special to me. I love this group of players and I love this club, and when you’ve got something special, you want to hold onto it,” said Hadley, who was pushing to rejoin the Diamonds squad next year ahead of the world championships in the UK.

“I think as a group, we really shook things up this year and proved that we are a team to be feared so it makes me pumped to see what we can do next year.

“I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love, which is play netball. Getting to step out on court in front of all our Swifts family, there’s just no better feeling in the world.”

Coach Briony Akle said Hadley was an important piece of the puzzle for the Swifts whose goal is to improve their sixth place in 2018 by cracking the finals next season.

“I feel that with Paigey, the Swifts are set up to be finals contenders in 2019,” Akle said.

Swifts keeper Sarah Klau and Giants specialist wing defence Jamie Lee Price both missed the cut for the Diamonds team to play the Quad series and Constellation Cup in September and October.

The Diamonds Quad Series campaign begins on September 15 against the South African in Auckland with the second game against England in Newcastle on September 19.

The Diamonds last game of the Quad Series in Australia will be in Townsville against New Zealand on October 10.
