JULIA Robinson and Jess Sergis clashed in one of the most memorable moments of the NRLW season, but the young duo will this weekend combine forces in the green and gold.

The backline sensations were two of the breakout stars of the inaugural women’s premiership and will be unleashed against the Kiwi Ferns when they make their Australian debuts on Saturday.

Together they will fight to maintain the Jillaroos’ recent winning run over the Ferns — which includes last year’s World Cup victory.

And they are both relieved to now be on the same team after an almighty collision in Round 1 of the NRLW became one of the highlights of the season.

Dragons centre Sergis came off second best in a brutal head clash with Broncos winger Robinson and left the field with a concussion.

“I didn’t think it would go as viral as it did. I had so many people messaging me,” Sergis said of the collision.

“It was a big head knock … I don’t really remember a lot. I know I was trying to get over and tackle her but she’s a bit too quick and a bit strong for me and knocked me straight on my chin.

“I’m stoked to have her on my team and to play alongside her now. She’s a strong player.”

Robinson was cleared to play on but had a massive egg on her forehead after the hit.

The 20-year-old went on to win the inaugural NRLW trophy with her beloved Broncos last month but has now switched her focus.

Alongside Sergis, 21, Robinson knows Saturday is a chance for both players to prove why they are the future of the Australian team.

Coach Brad Donald has already stated he was looking ahead to the 2021 World Cup.

“That would be the dream,” Robinson said of a future in the green and a gold.

“Jess is still so young as well. It would be good to play with her for the next few years to come.”

Meanwhile, the Jillaroos will be without skipper Sam Bremner for this weekend’s match after she withdrew with a broken toe.

Queensland and Roosters star Karina Brown has come into the squad in Bremner’s place, while Donald on Monday night announced Ali Brigginshaw as the new captain.
