Matildas captain Sam Kerr has added another accolade to her glittering career, this time being named MVP of the US National Women’s Soccer League.

Kerr was also named in the league’s Best XI for the season after scoring a record 18 goals and leading her Chicago Red Stars to the grand final (Monday EDT) against North Carolina Courage.

It’s the 26-year-old’s second NWSL MVP nod after also receiving the honour in the 2017 season.

“I love what I do and feel very lucky to be in the position I am,” Kerr said.

“I’m still learning every day and there’s new challenges every day. But I just always be myself.

“The last few years have been crazy, to see how far the game has come is a real joy to be a part of.

“I hope achieving my dreams will help girls and boys believe that they really can achieve their goals. Seeing females breaking down such big barriers hopefully propels kids forward and gives them confidence in who they are and what they want to be.”
