Lydia Williams – 9
The Matildas’ best on field. Made top-draw saves to keep her side in the game and didn’t back down from rushing off her line when required. Not much she could have done about Norway’s goal or their excellent penalties.
Ellie Carpenter – 7
Solid end to a strong tournament for the teenager, who provided a creative outlet on the right while also tracking back for a couple of crucial clearances.
Alanna Kennedy – 6
A red card in extra-time overshadowed an otherwise authoritative performance at the heart of defence. Made critical interceptions but also went forward.
Steph Catley – 6
Was caught off her marker for Norway’s opener and endured a tough shift, but held her own enough given she was out of position.
Elise Kellond-Knight – 6
Her corner-come-goal was exquisite, but it was obvious the holding midfielder was playing out of position at fullback. Was sturdy in defence but off the pace getting forward.
Emily van Egmond – 6
A couple of nice backheels and passes but for a player in the screening role allowed Norway’s players too much space.
Tameka Yallop – 6
Pressed customarily well and won second balls. Had influence in the front third two and a late chance saved, but could have been more patient.
Chloe Logarzo – 6
Was out of the game a bit but partly because she was doing so much defensive work, particularly helping Kellond-Knight. Did not stop running for 120 minutes.
Hayley Raso – 7
Bursting with bustle and her ability to run at opponents made her Australia’s best producer of chances. Converting them continues to elude her.
Sam Kerr – 6
Nearly scored in the opening minute and then man-marked to Mars and back. Took her time with a lovely second-half finish that was rightly ruled offside, but her penalty miss was grim.
Caitlin Foord – 7
Made magic at almost every turn intercepted and created with ease, including to set up Kerr’s disallowed goal. Her off-the-ball movement was a delight.

Had an immediate impact when she got on, adding spark, speed and physicality. But had her penalty saved.
