IT’S a good time to be a T-shirt printer in France.
And they can thank Sam Kerr for making them a motza off travelling fans getting behind the irreverent Matildas skipper.
As soon as hours after she hit back at “the haters” following Australia’s 3-2 Women’s World Cup comeback win over Brazil in Montpellier, the 25-year-old’s “suck on that one” tagline was already being sartorially immortalised.
Kerr was criticised from some quarters, particular ex-players, over her choice of words, but also widely supported after calling out a homophobic troll on Twitter.
Two days after the game, former West Coast Eagles star Daniel got behind his little sister by wearing a newly printed T-shirt bearing the words ‘SUCK ON THAT ONE - Sam Kerr 2019’ as he knocked back a pint in a video shared on social media.
By matchday three in Grenoble the word had clearly spread, and a throng of fans had followed suit by wearing the navy and yellow numbers.
It was good timing too, given Kerr scored a record-breaking four goals against Jamaica to fire the Matildas into the round of 16.
Next stop is Norway in Nice, and a potential multiplying of cheeky-shirt enthusiasts.
