ANOTHER mum is set to hit the court for the 2018 Super Netball competition in the wake of former Australian captain Laura Geitz’s confirmation she will return for the Queensland Firebirds.

Now New Zealander and former Silver Fern Leana de Bruin has decided to crossed the Tasman to join the top netball league.

While Geitz is a new mum after the birth of Barney earlier this year, de Bruin took a time out in 2009 to have son Caleb.

Former Diamonds defender Bec Bulley was enticed out of retirement this season following the birth of her first child to play for the Giants.

By season end she was recognised as one of the best defenders in the competition with the Giants finishing runners-up in the inaugural season of the competition which replaced the old ANZ trans-Tasman league.

The Thunderbirds also encouraged the return of mother-of-twins Renae Ingles who also hit the court for the first year of Super Netball but has since decided not to play on.

De Bruin retired from international duties with the Silver Ferns a year ago and now looks likely to see out her netball career with the Adelaide Thunderbirds.

The 40-year-old played with the Northern Stars in the inaugural ANZ premiership in New Zealand this season following the formation of the all-Australian club Super Netball competition.

The addition of the 138 test veteran will significantly boost Adelaide Thunderbirds who finished in last position in the eight-team 2017 Super Netball.

De Bruin is the second New Zealander to signup for 2018 Super Netball after former Silver Ferns player Laura Langman re-signed with Sunshine Coast Lighting.
