A PAIR of first half tries have delivered the Jillaroos a piece of rugby league history as the Australian women ran off with their first ever Auckland Nines series win against the Kiwi Ferns.

In a physical encounter which saw Australian star Kezie Apps carried from the field with a leg injury late in the second half, the Jillaroos took the match 8-0.

The win followed on from the Jillaroos 20-4 victory on Saturday against the New Zealanders in the first game of the three-Tests series.

The Jillaroos went on to cleansweep the series with a 14-4 victory in the third and final game.

Neither team could score in a second half marred, first by a head injury to Apps which required her to leave the field briefly to stem bleeding, and then the leg injury which saw her helped from the field in obvious pain.

Apps said prior to the series she believes the Jillaroos would break through for their first win over the Kiwis in this year’s event.

In the third match the Jillaroos shared the scoring with Isabelle Kelly, Brittany Breayley and Chelsea Baker all going over for the Australians.
