PADDLER Jessica Fox has rebounded from being edged for gold in the C1 to capture a K1 victory at the World Cup final in Tacen, Slovenia.
Fox finished in 77.55 seconds, a hefty two seconds plus ahead of Austria rival Corinna Kunhnle with British paddler Fiona Pennie a further 0.13 seconds behind in third.
The victory followed on from a disappointing result in the C1 event just 24 hours earlier, where a mistake cost Fox the gold she wanted.
The Penrith paddler was on course for gold when a late gate touch, which incurred a two second penalty, cost her the win.
Instead she finished second behind Great Britain’s Kimberley Woods, just 0.92 seconds away from the win.
Fox decided to continue paddling major events after she finished with a bronze medal in the K1 at the Olympic Games in Rio last month.
She was favourites to win the C1 event in Slovenia after victory in last week’s World Cup.
But she actually qualified fourth fastest in the K4 before going on to take out the event.
