JUST 24 hours after a disaster deprived her of gold, Olympic paddler Jessica Fox has bounced back to claim her 11th world title in junior and under 23 competition.
The result saw Fox’s world title campaign go from disaster to delight after a 50 second penalty deprived her of gold in the C1 event at the world under 23 championships on Saturday.
Just a day later she avenged the result to claim the gold — her fourth in the K1 event — in Bratislava, Slovenia.
“There are days when you can have great big lows and to come around and get back out there, it’s what I love,” Fox said.
“This is 50 times sweeter that yesterday.
“Yesterday was pretty draining emotionally. I gave everything in that run and afterwards I was very upset emotionally.
“Today I didn’t want to give the video judges any chance of giving me an asterisk or a 50, I wanted to be middle of the gates. I definitely had that fire from yesterday.”
Fox finished in 101.21 to claim the win from Brazil’s Ana Satila (102.69) and Poland’s Klaudia Zwolinska (103.61).
Now aged has aged out, the win means Fox finishes her junior and under 23 career with 11 gold medals, achieved in 14 world championship appearances.
