VETERANS Kim Green and Susan Pettitt have been poached from the Swifts by their old coach and will join a pair of English netballers and a new Diamond in the GWS Giants-backed netball team.
Green and Pettitt will play alongside English internationals Jo Harten and Serena Guthrie in the Giants’ inaugural season.
Recent Australian Diamond debutante Kristiana Manu’a is also in the side which is being coached by former Swifts and Magic boss Julie Fitzgerald.
The new 17-week competition has secured a landmark five-year broadcast deal that will see live free-to-air television for two games a week and live streaming and delayed television for all games from the 2017 season.
The Giants are one of three new clubs competing in the revamped league which starts in February 2017.
The Collingwood-backed club unveiled its star-studded line-up on Wednesday with five current Diamonds in its line-up.
They include defender Sharni Layton and shooter Caitlin Thwaites who both played for the NSW Swifts last season. Their loss cannot be underestimated, with both fan favourites and game changers.
The line-up has made the Magpies early favourites to dominate the all-Australian competition in 2017.
The third new club is the Melbourne Storm-backed team based on the Sunshine Coast which is rumoured to have snared another former Swifts player in recent Diamonds debutant Steph Wood.
