BRONCOS captain Ali Brigginshaw has revealed the secret weapons behind Brisbane’s inaugural NRLW season.

The Broncos have just one last game left to secure their place in the first women’s NRL premiership grand final, with the Warriors awaiting them in Melbourne tomorrow night.

Brisbane are the competition favourites, having claimed two wins from the first two games of the short season.

But before they even stepped out on the field for their first match, the Broncos already had the experience of over 500 NRL games behind them, thanks to assistant coaches Scott Prince and Mick Hancock.

For playmaker Brigginshaw, Prince has been a guiding light for her and the other halves over the last month.

“Princey’s been amazing for my game,” she said.

“He’s taken us to another level that we haven’t seen before … no one has shown us that level. We’ve never had anyone work with our attack like this before.

“It’s like, ‘where have you been for the last 10 years? I needed you 10 years ago’. We’re just going to get better with that.”

As for Hancock, Brigginshaw said he is the reason why the team are so close despite limited time together.

While other sides in the NRLW have struggled to click, the Broncos’ combinations continue to grow in strength.

Brigginshaw attributes that to Hancock.

“Mick Hancock makes us do these funny little drills and you think, ‘why are we doing this?’,” she said.

“We do things like all link arms and link feet and do 50 sit ups. It seems silly but it’s a team-building exercise. You have to work together to get up.

“It’s those little things that are making a big difference in our team. We’re so close and so tight that each week, we just want to be back with each other.”

“The (coaching staff) are also really close. They’re like family. The way they are, it rubs off on everybody else.”
