Apia Sydney International boasts six of top 10 women in tennis headed by Angelique Kerber

THE full draw for the Apia International Sydney has been unveiled and it’s a who’s who of the women’s game.
Some of the biggest and best female players in the game will head to Sydney in the New Year for the annual event at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre from January 8-14.
Four Grand Slam champions are in the women’s field which boasts six of the top 10 players in the world, including world No. 1 Angelique Kerber.
The German star will be joined by world No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland, world No. 5 Dominika Cibulkova from Slovakia, world No. 6 Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic, world No. 9 and defending champion Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia and world No. 10 Johanna Konta from Great Britain.
Adding to the show will be Grand Slam champions Petra Kvitova (CZE) and Samantha Stosur (Qld).
Australian Daria Gavrilova will also be competing along with Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki.
The lowest ranked player to receive direct entry to the women’s main draw is world No. 29 Irina-Camelia Begu which makes the main draw cut-off the best of any tournament on the WTA Tour in 12 months.
Two-time defending champion Viktor Troicki from Serbia will chase a three-peat in the men’s draw.
