Winx has been able to overcome everything thrown at her — quality rivals, wet or dry tracks, different distances.

Today we deliver our second video instalment of Winx’s amazing winning streak, starting right back where it all began.

WIN 1 — 16 MAY 2015: SUNSHINE COAST GUINEAS

Winx settled last in a big field of 18 where she stayed until the top of the straight where jockey Larry Cassidy took the filly to the extreme outside.

In a sign of things to come, Winx let rip with a stunning finishing burst to win by nearly two lengths.

WIN 2 — 30 MAY 2015: QUEENSLAND OAKS

Hugh Bowman was back on Winx for the first time in six races and the filly scored her first Group 1 win in the Oaks.

Winx again came from back in the field but moved to within striking distance of the leaders on the turn before dashing clear to win by more than three lengths.

WIN 3 — 12 SEPTEMBER 2015: THEO MARKS STAKES

Winx, under James McDonald, returned to racing over 1300m and had all the field in front of her into the straight.

After easing off heels at the 300m to get to the outside, Winx looked to be giving away an impossible start but she accelerated magnificently to collar Sons Of John in the last stride.

WIN 4 — 3 OCTOBER 2015: EPSOM HANDICAP

Bowman regards this as one of Winx’s best wins. The mighty mare was checked twice near the 600m and lost her momentum.

But Winx’s remarkable athleticism enabled her to regain her balance quickly, move into the race from the 300m and explode clear to win by more than two lengths.

WIN 5 — 24 OCTOBER 2015: COX PLATE

In the build-up to the Cox Plate, Bowman had the choice or rides between Winx and Preferment, both last start Group 1 winners.

Bowman went with Winx and the mare rewarded him with a track record-breaking win by more than four lengths. The Winx legend was growing.

WIN 6 — FEBRUARY 16, 2016: APOLLO STAKES

Winx drew the inside for the 1400m sprint and after beginning well, she settled fourth within striking distance of leader Solicit.

The fast tempo suited Winx but Solicit gave a good kick on the turn and still well clear at the 200m before Winx hit top gear, reeling in her rival at the 50m to win by a widening margin of nearly a length on the line.

WIN 7 — FEBRUARY 27, 2016: CHIPPING NORTON STAKES

The bookies weren’t taking any risks with Winx who was sent out a $1.40 favourite. This was a performance that would become her trademark — settling off speed, moving wide on the turn and wresting control inside the final 200m.

Winx scored her seventh win in succession with ease as she sprinted past Dibyani half way down the straight to win by one-and-a-half lengths and breaking 1m 34s for the Randwick 1600m.

WIN 8 — MARCH 19, 2016: GEORGE RYDER STAKES

Winx’s reputation was growing with every win and her George Ryder Stakes effort against a crack field was simply magnificent.

Jockey Hugh Bowman was caught wide on Winx early, made a mid-race move to get her over to be one-off the fence in third position before she moved up to hit the lead half-way down the straight to score her eighth successive win.

WIN 9 — APRIL 2, 2016: DONCASTER MILE

This was the race that confirmed Winx’s champion status. Her win in the Doncaster, her ninth in succession, remains one of her greatest efforts.

Winx was near last for most of the race and looked to be in an awkward position on the rails coming to the turn but Bowman starting find runs through the field and the mare responded to reach the lead just inside the 200m. Lightweight hope Happy Clapper surged after Winx but the great rose to the challenge and drew clear on the line.

WIN 10 — AUGUST 20, 2016

Winx began her five-year-old season by monstering her rivals in the Warwick Stakes, thrashing Hartnell by nearly four lengths.

Bowman didn’t seem to unduly pressure Winx in the straight but she was timed to sprint her final 600m sectional in under 33sec. The champ was back.
