BEST BET

Race 4, No.4: Nicola

She only just got nabbed on the line last start but was still looking strong. She gets a better draw this time and gets a better chance to win.

NEXT BEST

Race 2, No.1: Capital Venture

He comes back a touch in trip here which isn’t a negative and he can win a pretty weak race here.

VALUE BET

Race 7, No. 6: Kacper Boy

He’s tough to be confident in all the time but when he’s on, he’s got enough talent to win a country cup race.

TRAINER TO WATCH

CAMERON CROCKETT could have a day out with Capital Venture looking well placed and Fox On The Rocks, Foxbreak and Velaro all having winning claims.

JOCKEY TO WATCH

DYLAN GIBBONS rides Sunstone in the third and is a good hope along with Kensington Kid and don’t discount the experienced New Endeavour and Tallis later in the day.

INSIDE MAIL — WALCHA

RACE 1

Fenerbache has won twice at the mile this time in including last start at Gunnedah when he toughed it out. He’s going to put himself right in this race again and take some holding out. Chuck’n’paul has been ticking along nicely without winning and he will be strong through the line over a mile and gets all the favours from the barrier and he’s been in tougher races than this. Flying Mojo came from 13th at the 400m to run sixth at Port Macquarie. He gets a much better gate here and any rain would help. Wazena bounced back last start so watch out for her again.

BET: CHUCK’N’PAUL to win.

RACE 2

Capital Venture was scratched from a tougher race on Thursday and he gets the gun run in transit here and I don’t see dropping back in trip to be a negative for him. He looks to be the one to beat. Star Dreamer again has a wide gate which probably means they’ll go back on her again and she proved last start that she could run on well from off the speed. High Commission ran well above his odds first-up to suggest he’s turned the corner and going up a little in trip only helps. Norma Jeane look to be the each-way hope in the race.

BET: CAPITAL VENTURE to win.

RACE 3

Another Arli is first-up and he’s put together a handy record so far. He’s only won once from nine attempts but has placed on five occasions. He’s got the ability to do well here even though it’s well short of his best trip. Nicator had returned in good form this time in with a win and close fourth placing last start. He’s been dealt another poor gate but is rock-hard fit and with luck is hard to beat. Sunstone is a new edition to the Cody Morgan yard and she was given an easy trial to stretch her legs. She has previous form around Moruya, Goulburn and Nowra and that’s more than good enough for this part of the country and she’s looking good with some luck from a wide draw.

BET: SUNSTONE to win.

RACE 4

Nicola has been pretty consistent of late and just got nabbed late on the line last time after doing a bit of work to drag the field up to the leader in the run. A good hope again. Fox On The Rocks can take advantage of a good draw again but he will need to improve on his last run where he wasn’t strong late after doing no work in the run. He’s Our Toy Boy can mix his form a bit but on his day can figure in the finish of a race and the same can be said for Kensington Kid who ran second last start.

BET: NICOLA to win.

RACE 5

It’s hard to get a great gauge on Foxbreak off his trial on a heavy track but he was doing it with ease and gets barrier one for his debut run for a leading stable. Smart And Sassy has a wide gate but comes out of a city stable after running at the provincials, including one start behind the highly-rated Tailleur. She’s ran twice for Peter Dixon in the country and ran pretty well. Kennywyn has run placings at his past two races on wet and good ground but he’s looking for his first win at start 49.

BET: FOXBREAK to win.

RACE 6

On paper, I’m On Break doesn’t have great results but he’s been racing in better events than this including a Highway race with It’s Me in it. Kinjina has been up for a while but has had some of her races well-spaced and it works for her and she will take advantage of barrier one and look to lead them into the straight. Another Sheila beat Kinjina last start and she did it with ease and if her gets even luck it’s hard to see that result being reversed. Prue’s Prophet has drawn wide but will try and jump and get across them and she’s been racing in good form this time in.

BET: ANOTHER SHEILA to win.

RACE 7

In Heart’s Wake has been racing very well and will just about start favourite despite getting a wide draw. If she gets luck in the first 400m, she’s right in this. Call Me Brad has won three of his past four and gets the inside gate to ensure he can take up the running. Kacper Boy has always been a hard one to catch and I will be having him in my quaddie just in case this is his day. New Endeavour ran second in this race last year.

BET: KACPER BOY each way.

RACE 8

Wallace Street has been in fine form this time in and he gets all the favours here with a leading jockey, low weight and barrier one. Beacon pops up and wins one occasionally and is at home in this grade. Cocky Rocky is another one who goes around a lot in these types of races and he’s drawn to get the perfect run in transit which will be key in what looks like and open race on paper. Horses like Bryan’s Babe, All Stand and Sir Donald could win this at their best.

BET: WALLACE STREET to win.
