BEAT THE BOOKIE: VALUE BETS
Last week ... John Davis took the honours after steering punters into Felines ($8.50) in the last at Randwick. It capped a big day for Davis who tipped six of the nine winners. Darren Prendergast got in on the action with Swear ($3.50), while Simon Moy and Nick Quinn hit the target with Voodoo Lad ($2.70) producing a stunning last-to-first win at Moonee Valley. Ben Scadden kept the winners flowing in Adelaide with Lope De Capio ($2.45).

DOOMBEN (8 races, start 12.17pm),

ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: x1122
ANTONIO GIUSEPPE
Race 2, No. 5
Finished powerfully late over 1550m at the Canterbury midweeks then over the Rosehill 1500m in Saturday class. Promising young stayer trained by Chris Waller. Hugh Bowman takes over the ride here. The step up to 1800m should be ideal and he can win again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.50
BRAD DAVIDSON (Daily Telegraph). Form: 2x222
QUATRONIC
Race 4, No. 2
Talented four-year-old who won in this grade first up when half fit. He is already a city winner in Queensland and he looks to have a bright future. Best bet of the day and one of the best of the month.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.30
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 28422
SIR BACCHUS
Race 3, No. 1
Was resuming from a spell when coming from midfield and hitting the line with a big finish to score at Rosehill (Bm85) on Aug 27. Rises 2kg but that won’t stop him. Can continue the great run Chris Waller is having.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.30
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 24641
SOUTHERN LEGEND
Race 7, No. 9
Was simply brilliant at HQ first-up last time, overcoming a wide barrier to score over an unsuitable trip. The weight of support, since markets first went up earlier this week, suggests he’s in for a big campaign.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.60
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 82337
IMPENDING
Race 6, No. 7
I’ll say what I have said since the dawn of man, this horse will win the Golden Rose. I saw him trial on July 29 and started spruiking him — he’s back and he’s back big. Got beaten (not that he was going to win) but he was unlucky in the Run To The Rose. Once he drew 2, my confidence grew enormously — he’ll get the run of the race and I just don’t think they’ll be able to match his turn of foot.
TAB Fixed Odds: $11
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 16121
YANKEE ROSE
Race 6, No. 12
Quality filly has given trainer David Vandyke a few headaches leading up to her return, but she confirmed her place in the Golden Rose with a good hitout last weekend. Zac Purton returns from Hong Kong to stick with her. If she’s anywhere near her best, she will be hard to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50

FLEMINGTON
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 11224
BLACK HEART BART
Race 7, No. 3
Bolted in with the Memsie Stakes last start and takes on a similar field. Should take up a good position and prove too good again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.30
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 24224
BLACK HEART BART
Race 7, No. 3
Dominant first-up and expect to be even better here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.30
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 41221
BLACK HEART BART
Race 7, No. 3
Never in doubt last start on resumption when race set up perfectly for him. Ollie back on again after Memsie thumping and should take up a prime position.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.30
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 23611
KINGLIKE
Race 6, No. 6
Potential top-line sprinter resuming who boasts a good first-up record.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 30262
ANOTHER SLIPPER
Race 4, No. 9
Scratched off the heavy track last week at Eagle Farm, knowing this race was always waiting for him. Clocked a serious speed figure winning second up at Ipswich and sets a good benchmark for his rivals to match. Not the put in take out prospect he looked last week, as these are better rivals, but still should prove too classy on his way to better races.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.20
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 22431
REFUSE TO LOSE
Race 3, No. 3
Consistent Victorian mare with strong credentials for a race like this. Prepared to forgive last-start failure at Moonee Valley and go on previous back-to-back wins. Handles soft going and expect her to be prominent for a long way.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.70
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 11188
CANALASSO
Race 7, No. 3
High-priced colt who won well back in class before a good run at Sandown. Looks well suited in the conditions and the stable have a great record when they come to Adelaide. Hard to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40
