BEAT THE BOOKIE: VALUE BETS

DOOMBEN

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 10925

HAURAKI

Race 7, No. 1

Blinkers go on here after he again loomed to win and failed to finish off last time. That aside, will be fitter here and there’s been a host of occasions where the best horse has been beaten in the Hollindale, but atones in this race. Drawn to get every chance and expecting the short Doomben straight to suit his quick burst of speed.

TAB Fixed Odds: $3.50

BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 6x412

IT’S SOMEWHAT

Race 7, No. 2

Huge run last start in the Hollindale Stakes after being wide for the trip. Great bet in a race with plenty of non-winners

TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50

BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 43x33

STRATURBO

Race 1, No. 3

It’s been a while between drinks for Straturbo but this looks a nice race for him and he will relish getting back onto a firm surface. He almost beat Into The Red last start and that horse would be a short-priced favourite if he accepted for this race. Happy to take on the early favourite Selita from the awkward gate and I can see her getting caught wide here. I also feel she might be better on wet tracks and her recent trials suggested that.

TAB Fixed Odds: $$4.20

MORPHETTVILLE

BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 12226

I LOVE IT

Race 6, No. 1

Ran a terrific race when third in the Sangster Stakes a fortnight ago beaten just over a length and facing a similar group here. Should get a handy trip from her middle barrier and expect her to be fighting out the finish with regular rider Stephen Baster in the saddle.

TAB Fixed Odds: $6

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 11151

MASTER ZEPHYR

Race 2, No. 4

Form was very good before finishing getting back on a heavy track when fourth in the Warrnambool Cup as favourite.

Previous form solid, he looks a much more attractive prospect on a better surface here and should take beating.

TAB Fixed Odds: $3.60

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 53172

BLACK HEART BART

Race 7, No. 3

Picking the best horse in the race with the Group 1 form on the board. Nearly won the All Aged Stakes and should be in the finish here.

TAB fixed odds: $4

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 43315

BLACK HEART BART

Race 7, No. 3

Could be considered a little unlucky when second in All Aged Stakes. Draw probably not best for his style of racing but certain to be charging late.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4

CRANBOURNE (tonight)

YELLEN

Race 5, No. 1

Smart mare from the Chris Waller stable who is a previous first-up winner and has won 2 of 3 previous attempts over the distance.

Looks over the odds and the one to beat.

TAB Fixed Odds: $3.80

ROSEHILL GARDENS

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 32112

TSARITSA

Race 5, No. 5

This is a very promising filly trained by Chirs Waller). She resumed from a spell and dashed away to score a 1-1/2 len win over 1250m at Canterbury on April 27. Fitter now, will appreciate the 1400m and has drawn to get a great run in transit. Can win again.

TAB Fixed Odds: $2.90

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 40536

SHE’S MISS DEVINE

Race 9, No. 4

Trial watchers will only want to be on the one horse here, nay, all day. Trial aside, her form and talent is definitely good enough to win a race of this kind albeit a rather competitive Get Out Stakes.

TAB Fixed Odds: $5

FLEMINGTON

MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 28x07

DE LITTLE ENGINE

Race 7, No. 3

The 59.5kg is some worry but everything else about De Little Engine (3) says yes! Love the way he found the line last start.

TAB Fixed Odds: $5

DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun). Form: 03123

DE LITTLE ENGINE

Race 7, No. 3

Missed the kick and finished sixth in last year’s 3200m Sandown Cup. Set for this race and that form should stand up.

TAB Fixed Odds: $5

DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 29x10

THE NEW BOY

Race 9, No. 15

Honest gelding who is always a winning chance. Will appreciate Ben Thompson’s 3kg claim.
