HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS

LISTEN TO OUR PREVIEW OF ROSEHILL RACES ON SATURDAY

SANDOWN (Hillside)

ROD NICHOLSON (Herald Sun). Form: 26485

NGARIMU

Race 7, No. 10

Was doing best work late when third last start. The 1600m looks ideal and is enticing long odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9.50

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 29111

BALLET SUITE

Race 9, No. 9

Finished on strongly at her last start when fourth to Coronation Shallan at Moonee Valley. Drawn out but long run in will suit. $7.50 looks over the odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50

DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun). Form: 60042

ALMOONQITH

Race 8, No. 2

Treat the Melbourne Cup as a warm-up lap, and go on emphatic Geelong Cup win. If he stays 3200m, tough to beat.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60

DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 21954

SMOKIN’ JOEY

Race 3, No. 1

Class veteran galloper who trialled well on Monday. First-up and will be hard to beat.

TAB Fixed Odds: $6.50

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 46594

CORONATION SHALLAN

Race 9, No. 3

Big win on Cox Plate Day when fending off Azkadellia and ran a big race in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes last Saturday. Looks tremendous value at double-figure odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $10

SIMON MOY (Superracing). Form: 73272

WHO SHOT THEBARMAN

Race 5, No. 2

Suffering severe interference in Melbourne Cup but stable says he is in great shape. Form very solid and gets his opportunity to get something out of his spring.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.20

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Superracing). Form: 20112

MAHUTA

Race 7, No. 2

Has won three on the trot and Darren Weir knows how to get his horses to keep winning. Should still push forward despite the wide barrier.

TAB Fixed odds: $5.50

Opportunity beckons at Sandown this weekend for Grand Marshal (Raquel Bennett/right) and Who Shot Thebarman (Justine Hales), who enjoy a paddle at Altona Beach. Picture: Getty Images

ROSEHILL

NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: x0923

ZIGGY WILLIE

Race 8, No. 12

Solid first-up when third behind the talented Happy Clapper. Galloped well on Tuesday and looks a nice play at $15.

TAB Fixed Odds: $15

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 08302

TOMMY GUN

Race 3, No. 12

Trained by the in-form Matthew Dale, this gelding resumed from a spell with a fast-finishing win over 1200m at Canberra on a soft track on October 23. Big weight drop of 6kg here and his second-up form is good. Worth a gamble at big odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 5x082

AURORA GLOW

Race 2, No. 6

Looked to have returned in tremendous order and there was plenty to like about her first-up effort in a similar benchmark ratings handicap at Randwick on Melbourne Cup day. Gets a 2kg weigh relief here, which suggests the scales are tipped in her favour.

TAB Fixed Odds: $6

SHAYNE O’CASS (The Sportsman). Form: 40852

ZIGGY WILLIE

Race 8, No. 12

Has drawn the outside alley, but the son of High Chaparral is 10s 2-4-2 and 4s 2-2-0 at the trip. He can handle good or soft and best of all is that he is 2s 1-1-0 when second-up. There was plenty for trainer John Sargent to work with on the score of his first-up third to Happy Clapper who’ll just about win the Festival and/or Villiers this summer.

TAB Fixed Odds: $15

DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 40024

AWARD SEASON

Race 5, No. 6

Has had three trials to prepare for return. Won three straight last preparation and has finished second in two previous first-up runs in Australia. Could surprise.

TAB Fixed Odds: $13

DOOMBEN

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 41580

CASUAL CHOICE

Race 7 No. 11

Never got a crack at them at any stage last time. Can make a case to say he would have beaten Charge Account there and now meets that horse 1.5kg better and is twice the price. Can get back and run on strongly.

TAB Fixed Odds: $10

BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 59633

GOOD JOB BRO

Race 6, No. 11

He can be a hard horse to catch but he has really found some good form of late. He would have won if it wasn’t for a farcical tempo at Ipswich last start and before that he was smashing his rivals and running good sectionals at Toowoomba. They should trek along here and he will come late at big odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $15

MORPHETTVILLE

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 2581x

MISTA HOLYFIELD

Race 4, No. 7

Lightly-raced three-year-old from the South East who has been the subject of strong betting pushes at all four starts. Bumps into an even field here, is drawn out but looks good each-way value.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9.50
