FORM experts will be trawling through replays of last Saturday's cracking Group 1 Turnbull Stakes race after almost the entire field were among first acceptors for the Melbourne Cup released today.
The 2000m Turnbull looks to be a crucial formguide to this year's Group 1 $6m Melbourne Cup (3200m) after big guns Puissance De Lune (second), Fawkner (third), Fiorente (fourth) and Hawkspur (fifth) all impressed behind Happy Trails.
In all, 13 runners from the 16-horse Turnbull field are among today's 72 first acceptors for the race that stops the nation.
Also accepting from the Turnbull were Silent Achiever (sixth), Dear Demi (eighth), Royal Descent (11th), (seventh) Jet Away, Mr O'Ceiren (10th), Quintessential (12th), Tuscan Fire (13th), Glencadam Gold (14th) and Sangster (16th).
Past Cup winners Dunaden (58.5kg) and Green Moon (57.5kg) are both on track for a tilt at becoming multiple winners.
