Tendon injury to sideline Kosciuszko winner It’s Me for spring
Victory in The Kosciuszko has come at a steep price with the Brett Cavanough-trained mare It’s Me set for a long spell to rehabilitate a tendon injury.

The Kosciuszko winner It’s Me has sustained another tendon injury and won’t race again this season.
Trainer Brett Cavanough confirmed It’s Me has damaged the off-foreleg tendon and will undertake an immediate rehabilitation program.
These types of leg injuries often require long spells of six-nine months to recover but Cavanough his hopeful his star mare will be fit to return to racing next spring.
“We have picked it up early so fingers crossed she won’t need quite as long out in the paddock,’’ Cavanough said.
“Unfortunately it is the same leg she damaged as a younger horse.’’
It’s Me’s earlier leg problem meant she did not race as a two or three-year-old. She finally made it to the races in August, winning on debut at Scone.

She then reeled off successive Highway wins at Royal Randwick before lining up in The Kosciuszko last Saturday when she produced an outstanding performance to win after being held up for a run at the top of the straight.
Cavanough had considered setting It’s Me for the $7.5 million Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on October 31 before her leg injury was discovered on Sunday.
The exciting It’s Me remains unbeaten after four starts, earning $816,000 prizemoney.
