Red Cadeaux, Simenon, Dandino and Dunaden set for Hong Kong showdown

UPDATE: INTERNATIONALS Red Cadeaux, Simenon, Dandino and Dunaden could be set for a Melbourne Cup rematch in the Hong Kong Vase.

ASIAN racing spoils are next on the globe-trotting radars of the international raiders who almost claimed Tuesday's Melbourne Cup.

Red Cadeaux (second), Mount Athos (third), Dandino (fifth) as well as 2011 Cup winner Dunaden are all likely to head to the Japan Cup on November 24 or the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin on December 8.

Runner-up Red Cadeaux might have earned the right at a fourth Melbourne Cup tilt with a magnificent effort behind Fiorente and, just as remarkably, the eight-year-old warhorse was the brightest of the Werribee brigade yesterday.

By contrast, Brown Panther (eighth), was heavily bandaged and suffering from a severely lacerated foreleg.

Raced by Michael Owen, Brown Panther is likely to be spelled before a possible 2014 Cup assault.

Red Cadeaux's travelling foreman Robin Trevor-Jones described the ageless gelding as amazing.

"I object to the trainer (Ed Dunlop) calling this his zimmer-frame tour," Trevor-Jones said.

"There's no way this horse is too old."

The Cumani stable lauded Craig Williams for his ride on Mounth Athos after starting from barrier 22.

"It might have helped to get some interference because we then would have got there a bit later," Sara Cumani said.

"But it was a gem of a ride."

Dandino was vetted along with several other tired and slightly sore gallopers and will head to Hong Kong.

Dunaden is likely to head to Japan.

"He's fine, he went out for a walk and trot this morning," trainer Mikel Delzangles said.

Mike Moroney's Voleuse De Coeurs (10th) is also bound for Asia.

Buoyed by the success of Mackinnon Stakes winner Side Glance and Lexus Stakes victor Ruscello, the internationals will roll out four starters at Flemington on Saturday.

Havana Gold and Stipulate will tackle the Emirates Stakes (1600m), Forgotten Voice is entered for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2500m) and Hong Kong's Lucky Nine is a favoured runner in the VRC Sprint Classic (1200m).
