BEST BET

Race 5, No.6: Marsannay

Marsannay, twice stakes placed this season, is racing well this campaign without winning, including a close third to Shaik at Rosehill in Saturday class. He should lead and control the tempo, giving him his chance to run a strong 1500m.

NEXT BEST

Race 2, No.2: Lady Of Luxury

Has been placed in four of her six starts, including successive seconds this campaign. Finished strongly to be beaten less than a length over 1100m on this track last start and the step up to 1400m suits.

VALUE

Race 4, No.7: No Escape

Resumed off a let-up to finish a good third behind Flexible over 1400m here on this track earlier this month. Fitter now and handles soft track. Great value at $17.

QUADDIE

Race 4: 1, 2, 3, 7

Race 5: 4, 6, 10

Race 6: 3, 4, 7, 11

Race 7: 1, 4, 6, 7

INSIDE MAIL — RANDWICK-KENSINGTON

RACE 1

Amen Corner, a $750,000 Magic Millions graduate by I Am Invincible, is cleverly named out of Augusta Proud. She has inherited her dam’s natural speed, as evidenced in recent trials. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly is set to go close on debut. Godolphin filly Trifaccia, who is closely related to four-time Group 1 winner Appearance, found the line nicely for second in a recent Warwick Farm trial. She should be running on strongly. Silver Thorn is very fast and suited by the barrier draw. Mishka Magic has shown enough in two trials to indicate she has ability.

BET: AMEN CORNER each way; box trifecta 3, 5, 6, 9, 10.

RACE 2

Lady Of Luxury has shaped promisingly in both starts this campaign, chasing home Newsreader (who has since won again at Warwick Farm) in a rich Magic Millions maiden before closing fast on Skedaddle over 1100m at this track. Drawn perfectly, should get the right run and the step up to 1400m suits. The Denzel bumped into the promising Wheelhouse when resuming and will be fitter. Vanilla Sky has looked very good at the trials but on debut at 1400m is a query. Nearly Fine will be competitive again.

BET: LADY OF LUXURY to win; saver on VANILLA SKY at odds.

RACE 3

Laila De Vega switched back to the inside and looked set to score but Guise wide out had the momentum and beat her a half length over the Kensington 1800m last start. Laila De Vega meets her rival 1.5kg better at the weights and is ready to win. My Demetra comes out of Saturday class when third to boom stayer Great House and is well placed here. Guise returned to form with a big win here last start and she rates highly again. Creeping up in the weights now but is going well.

BET: LAILA DE VEGA each way.

RACE 4

No Escape has a poor second-up record — eight unplaced runs from as many attempts — but ran a blinder when resuming off a two-month break when third behind the talented Flexible over this course and distance. Has returned in good form, gets in well at the weights after the claim and excels on rain-affected tracks. Snitzify split Flexible and No Escape last start and continues to race in good form. Drawn the inside and will get all the favours.

BET: NO ESCAPE each way.

RACE 5

Marsannay is on trial at 1550m but he should be able to control the tempo from in front and be hard to run down. Racing well without winning but gets his chance here, particularly on rain-affected going. Macleay has improved steadily with each run this summer. He’s coming back slightly in trip but drops 4.5kg. Oscar Zulu didn’t run on as expected when unplaced behind Shaik at Rosehill, finishing three lengths behind Marsannay. He’s better than his last-start effort and can improve back in midweek grade.

BET: MARSANNAY to win; box trifecta 4, 6, 7, 10.

RACE 6

Marway did a very good job to rail through and score a narrow win over Irish Angel in fast time at Warwick Farm. He had never won when resuming from a spell so he has returned in very good order, his second-up run is impressive, handles rain-affected going and should get the run of the race. Epic Dan finished powerfully to just miss over this course and distance when resuming. He enjoys rain-affected conditions and is over the odds. This race sets up well for her Irish Angel. The Neon Knight is chasing her fifth consecutive victory and has a fierce will to win.

BET: Box trifecta 3, 4, 7, 11.

RACE 7

Fashchanel was run down by talented April Rain at Randwick when resuming. Will be improved by the run and looks hard to beat. Eight Diamonds unleashed a powerful surge to win her maiden impressively when resuming at Canterbury. She’s had a soft trial since and although this is a deep race, she’s a filly with potential. Harmony Rose showed promise when last in work and has trialled well before for her return. Brookspire has drawn off the track but will be charging home.

BET: FASHCHANEL to win; saver on EIGHT DIAMONDS.
