RANDWICK

Track: Soft 5. Rail: Out 8m

RACE 1: PETALUMA HANDICAP (1100m)

Overview: Decent race. Silent Impact has trialled up well and he was very good in his first two runs last prep and then was a shade disappointing before a break. He looks to have come back well. Flying Crazy can run a cheeky race fresh and the stable is airborne at present. Capital Reign is a flying machine and he just needs to run out 1100m, while Subterranean can close off late first up.

Betting Advice: Silent Impact to win.

RACE 2: HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (1000m)

Overview: I thought Wild Calm’s run on debut was a cracker in the Gimcrack and while I concede she could have trialled a touch better leading into this campaign, she has to go on top. Zambezi River and Emperor both ran well in the Breeders’ Plate on debut but it’s important to note the Gimcrack was run in much faster time on the day. Sir Artie has looked good at the trials and must also be respected if they run here.

Betting Advice: Wild Calm to win.

RACE 3: TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP (1100m)

Overview: Interesting TAB Highway. Shelby Sixtysix was a bit disappointing last start but he was outstanding prior to that and this looks a nice race for him from the good draw. Extravagant Lad and Great Buy will both have admirers, while emergencies Fangela and Devil’s Triangle come into play if they gain a start. Fifty Carats pulled up slow to recover fresh and can improve sharply here.

Betting Advice: Shelby Sixtysix on top but Fifty Carats runs well at the odds.

RACE 4: CITY TATTERSALLS GROUP HANDICAP (1600m)

Overview: And We Danced seemed to have her chance first-up at Rosehill but she was two months between runs and she just peaked on the run late. She did that at her two runs prior in New Zealand as well but she could be worth another chance. Penso A Lei was well backed last start but pulled up lame. She was tracking nicely prior to that. Arctic Thunder’s best form is at Rosehill but she is going well, while Sur La Mer would give this a shake at her best.

Betting Advice: And We Danced the horse to beat but Penso A Lei looks the value.

RACE 5: MIDWAY HANDICAP (1800m)

Overview: Open race this with many hopes. Jungle Book has been tracking nicely and the 1800m looks to suit now. Viren looked home last start and just peaked on the run late, while White Boots is building well this prep and must also be respected. There are plenty of other hopes too.

Betting Advice: Jungle Book to win.

RACE 6: PRECISE AIR HANDICAP (2000m)

Overview: Toomuchtobear is the horse to beat but he is a tad short all the same considering he is up sharply in trip and was a bit disappointing second-up. Greek Hero has been finding the line well this prep and he just has to run out 2000m to go close. So Wicked pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia last start and is a big improver here, while Maid Of Ore drops a stack in weight and must also be respected.

Betting Advice: Toomuchtobear the one to beat but So Wicked can improve sharply at odds.

RACE 7: ACY SECURITIES HANDICAP (1100m)

Overview: Tough race. Salina Dreaming has a great fresh record but she has been scratched twice already this prep with a vets certificate. She is off a long break and may need a run? Moonshine Lady was dominant first up and the question now is whether she can reproduce that. Nikohli Beagle, Broken Arrows and Osamu are all capable, while Superior Witness was dominant in much weaker grade last start.

Betting Advice: Leaning to Moonshine Lady.

RACE 8: THE AGENCY CARRINGTON STAKES (1400m)

Overview: Very open race. Through The Cracks has drawn a wide gate but there’s good speed here and he can definitely get home hard from the back. Special Reward seems to be ticking over nicely and he gets a nice run off a hot speed here. Holyfield just continues to go from strength to strength this prep and he can run very well on the quick back up. Special Reward, Purple Sector, Looks Like Elvis and Steely are all hopes as well.

Betting Advice: Through The Cracks on top.

RACE 9: RANVET HANDICAP (1600m)

Overview: Canasta has been building nicely this prep and he should find the front once again and be hard to run down. He is always a touch suspect late and the rail needs to be holding up well as he stays on the rail the entire straight normally. Lackeen sets up okay here and he just had to get too far back last start. Yiyi put in a terrific return but now draws wide. He is the most progressive horse here but it’s not the ideal set up second up. Kingsheir was a strong winner fresh and must also go in.

Betting Advice: Canasta if the fence is okay by this time of the day.

RACE 10: BOWERMANS HANDICAP (1400m)

Overview: Bring The Ransom has been building nicely this prep and she did win third up last prep at 1400m. Waihaha Falls was a touch disappointing last start even though he was wide. He gets the shades on here and there’s been a stack of subsequent winners around him. More Sundays can run on late, while Yukon isn’t hopeless fresh. Badoosh can even run well at odds.

Betting Advice: Leaning to Bring The Ransom.
