WARWICK FARM

BEST BET

Race 2, No. 1: LAW PARTY

He got back at Canterbury last start after trying to find a position early in the race and he finished off in good style and will be better suited to this track and distance.

NEXT BEST

Race 1, No. 1: COMPORTA

She put in a nice debut run and will obviously be better for it under the care of Chris Waller and Jason Collett will give her the ideal run to win now.

VALUE BET

Race 3, No. 3: SHADOW BRIDGE

He is rated around the $8 mark and that looks over for a horse that’s run close behind Triple Ace at his past two. He’s a good each way hope here.

QUADDIE

Leg 1: 3, 4, 6

Leg 2: 1, 2, 3

Leg 3: 2, 3, 4

Leg 4: 1, 10, 11

INSIDE MAIL FOR WARWICK FARM WITH MATT JONES

RACE 1

With the hot weather forecast this track should get back into the Good range by race 1 and Comporta put in a good run on debut when second at Canterbury. She’s by Kermadec so going up to 1400m now is ideal and she’s in great hands with a stable who really improves their young horses with each run. Shivani might enjoy a little more sting out of the ground today and she peaks now third-up and their won’t be any excuses as Tommy Berry takes over. Loveland has had two trials for this and is much better suited over 1400m first-up while Desert Flame will put herself right into this race and get every chance in the run from an inside gate and may even lead them into the straight.

BET: COMPORTA TO WIN

RACE 2

Law Party had plenty to do on debut from off the speed at Canterbury so you could forgive him for just dying on his run late. He’ll appreciate the pace of a 1400m race now and show natural improvement second-up. Vanderland will also like the speed in this race more and has to improve also with a good team behind him and he’s been a model of consistency without winning so far. Today might be his day. Beachhaven needs to lift while Cash Register will love getting out to 1400m now off an encouraging run last start.

BET: LAW PARTY TO WIN

Trainer Mark Newnham and jockey Josh Parr can combine for a couple of early winners with Law Party and Shadow Bridge. Picture: AAP

RACE 3

Shadow Bridge was an $8 chance early in the week and I’ve got no idea why. He was brave last start and coming back to 1000m now may help enhance his winning chances. Rosina Kojonup returns and she’s got an attractive racing pattern which has delivered her two wins from five runs so far and she ran a pretty good race in the Gosford Guineas a few years ago. She’s been off the scene foe a long time but has class. Abel Hill will try and lead all the way here and has the right jockey on, Tim Clark, to do that. Calipari and Brazenpipe are the other hopes.

BET: SHADOW BRIDGE TO WIN

RACE 4

Despite only winning once from 14 starts, John Sargent says Havin’ Fun has no excuses and can win this race. She’s placed four times and comes into this off a two-length sixth in higher grade last start. She’s been going well without winning this time in. Constanzia does have a good strike rate on five wins from 12 starts in lesser grade but has earned a start in town and getting back onto a firmer track helps as does the fact this isn’t a strong city race. Margie Bee drops back to a more suitable trip now and could try and lead all the way here.

BET: HAVIN’ FUN TO WIN

RACE 5

Wairere Falls just hasn’t been able to win in town on a Saturday and has been brought back in grade here. Tommy Berry gets back on now and will give him a cushy run from the gate. If he gets a split he can shoot through and win. Stablemate Mubariz, who Berry rode last start, scored an easy win last week at this track and distance and it wasn’t a surprise considering his previous efforts. It was on heavy ground now and he won’t get that luxury today. Home Ground is an improver second-up after an encouraging run last time in a Saturday race and he’ll eat up every bit of the mile as will Azarmin.

RACE 6

Awesome Lad is the only last start winner in this race and he’s actually shooting for three-straight wins off two provincial victories. He did fall in last start though and would’ve been beaten in another stride or two so he’s got to be better to keep winning. Darleb tends to need luck in the run from off the speed and he should like getting out to 1400m now. Boomtown Rat has a good enough fresh record and has won twice at the track and will like the drying ground. Casino Mondial goes great second-up.

BET: DARLEB TO WIN

RACE 7

Vreneli gets a better gate now and a drier track at 1200m so it all shapes up a lot better for him, especially if he can dictate terms in front. He’s A Hotshot drops in grade after running behind All Time Legend last time and that’s proved to be top form but he has to lug 61kg, that’s the worry. Front Money is going well but just can’t get a win. See how Shadow Bridge goes earlier in the day because it just beat her home last start. The Team Hawkes horse will enjoy this track.

BET: EXACTA 10, 11
