TAREE
BEST BET
Race 7, No.1: MARGIE BEE
She finally finds a wet track which is a huge advantage for her because she still goes as well on them as she does the dry and she drops in grade with good form still behind her.
NEXT BEST
Race 8, No.4: QUICK TEMPO
He’s been given his first wide draw as he looks to stay undefeated but with luck he can do that after winning with a bit in hand last start at Muswellbrook.
QUADDIE
Race 5: 1, 2, 4
Race 6: 1, 4
Race 7: 1, 2, 4
Race 8: 4, 6, 9
JOCKEY TO WATCH
Dylan Gibbons can ride winners on West Germany, Longbottom and Chase My Crown along with a few others.
BATHURST
BEST BET
Race 5, No.3: ANG POW
This horse is already being set for the Country Championships next year and this is a race he needs to win on the way and he should as long as he handles the wet track.
TRAINER TO WATCH
Whenever Annabel Neasham bring horses out here, they’re chances and as long as Winning Business gets luck from barrier 10, he’s a huge hope in the last after trialling up great. Ardievu also runs in the sixth.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR TAREE
RACE 5
Chammebaby probably wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Kosciuszko on Saturday so she’s got to be a hope here. She was two lengths off Art Cadeau and Another One in the Country Championship Final earlier in the year and handles wet tracks and like her home circuit so she’s got to be in the finish. Longbottom also likes wet ground and comes back here off provincial and city runs so this is well within her reach. Wander swims and is back from tougher races too. These three looks to have it between them.
Bet: Charmmebaby to win
RACE 6
Chase My Crown got way too far back before rattling home in a strong race at Port Macquarie and before that ran behind a subsequent Group 1 winner. She can be in a better spot from the gate if she steps away well and that gives her every hope. Oakfield Hiawatha didn’t have things go his way at Gosford last time and this is obviously easier and he has won on the heavy. His run two back was good enough to be in the finish here. Alastor might need the wet track to get back into form and a quicker back up might also help as will the track where he’s not finished worse than second at from three runs. Will they let Auvergne get under the guard again?
Bet: Alastor to win
RACE 7
La Jolie Fille beat Mister Smartee fair and square last time but the wet track can change that result and the difference in price might make Mister Smartee one to consider at odds. Margie Bee will be backed to beat both of them considering her form which has been quite strong for a while now and she’ll appreciate a country race with a claim to get her win with a winnable weight and she loves bog tracks. Party Host is an each way hope.
Bet: Quinella 1, 4
RACE 8
Quick Tempo is undefeated so far but has to do it out of a very wide gate this time which is something he hasn’t had to deal with so far. Will need luck but is well placed in this grade. Ready To Chase arrives at Tony Ball’s yard from Queensland and he’s got a heavy track win to his name and likes to race on speed and has a lugging bit on for the first time. Capannello comes back in trip which should be seen as a positive and he gets the run of the race.
Bet: Quick Tempo to win
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR BATHURST
RACE 5
Ang Pow is the best horse in Will Freedman’s stable and is undefeated from two runs. He should handle a wet track and the stable is keen to get him to the Country Championships next year. There’s been good offers to buy the son of Flying Artie. Chevconi will provide a good challenge after he won as an odds-on pop first-up and wasn’t far off qualifying for the Country Championships Final earlier in the year and he’ll love a wet track. Shadow Chaser has 61kg to lug because he’s dropping in grade and he goes well second-up.
Bet: Ang Pow to win
RACE 6
Spellz was good on debut over 1200m when she was just warming up on the line so today’s extra trip is ideal and she should run well on a wet track being by Dundeel. Perhaps Doubtless Wonder is just not a great trialler after he came from near last to run third on debut at Muswellbrook. It’s A Boy has run a couple of placings this time in incusing a second at this track last time out and he should sit in behind the speed. Mycah Leon should relish getting up in ground after finding the 1200m too short on debut.
Bet: Spellz to win
RACE 7
The Blue Planet should race on the speed and perhaps sit outside the leader after coming off a solid win at Goulburn second-up. He’s by Deep Field and most of them swim. Blue Tattoo ran pretty well last start and has strong enough form around him for a race of this standard while stablemate Zoufly has won here at her only start and a wet track aids her here and she’s a winner three runs back and looks well placed by her new trainer.
Bet: Blue Tattoo to win
RACE 8
Airstrike improved greatly second-up with the help of an easier race and Bjorn Baker has kept her in the country in search of a first win and it wouldn’t surprise if today was the day. Winning Business in first-up off nearly a year’s break and is now in the Annabel Neasham stable. His last run was a close fifth in town at the midweeks so he’s here to get a win out of the way and the barrier trials have been good. If She’s Super finds her best she’s right in this but she’s put in two average ones of late.
Bet: Winning Business to win
