BEST BET
Race 3, No.1: Jervis
He went a bit better than his fifth placing on debut at Gosford suggested after getting an awkward run to the line. He’s in the country now looking to get his first win out of the way.
NEXT BEST
Race 2, No.2: Big Happiness
Kristen Buchanan is on fire at the moment and she rates this three-year-old who has come back a better horse from a much needed spell.
LATEST BETTING: TAB FIXED ODDS
VALUE BET
Race 1, No.10: Williams Bay
The Freedman brothers are also in great touch in Sydney and this Capitalist filly showed she was ready for a country race to win on debut and looks overs.
QUADDIE
Race 5: 1, 2, 6, 9
Race 6: 6, 7, 10
Race 7: 10, 13

TRAINER TO WATCH
TEAM SNOWDEN have three horses going around, Jet Pack, Chenin Blanc and Windsweep, and all have hopes in their respective races in this grade.
JOCKEY TO WATCH
CHRISTIAN REITH has a good book of rides with Miss Powerbelle and Savvy Crown the best chances.
INSIDE MAIL FOR SCONE
RACE 1
Phases debuts here off good trial from which includes a win against Mystic Gem, who went on to win on debut in town in Brisbane for Kris Lees. Phases has been given blinkers for the first time and the colt has worked in blinkers leading into this. Spellcatcher has also been given a couple of solid trials to have him ready to go at start one and he should get the ideal run from the inside draw and get every chance. Half Moon is an improver second-up and punters shouldn’t underestimate Williams Bay for a top stable. Jet Pack finds this easier.
Bet: Williams Bay each way.
RACE 2
Big Happiness is looking for a confidence-boosting win after below par runs at Wyong and Canterbury at his first two runs and comes into this off a good trial win against the classy Emeralds. He’s here to win. My Sister Carole is a big watch here after coming to the Brett Cavanough stable from the Waterhouse/Bott yard and horses in this situation can really thrive in a quieter stable. More Joie is another Waterhouse/Bott horse who has got out of the big smoke and gone to a quieter place so watch the betting with him considering his trial form. Swiss Scent showed more than enough in an open trial to suggest she’s going to run a nice enough race.
Bet: Big Happiness to win.
RACE 3
Jervis didn’t quite get a clear run up the straight on debut when running fifth at Gosford but is here for a confidence-boosting win and he gets the dream run from the gate so, with even luck, he’s got to be hard to beat. Roman Candle was in that same race last time when running sixth and is an improver second-up while debutant Marella might run a race at odds. Buckin’ Lucky needs luck from the wide draw but would’ve gained a lot from her debut run which was honest enough at Taree. Gold Lunar wants 1400m and gets it now so look for her to run on again.
Bet: Jervis to win.
RACE 4
Last Chance Dance has been pretty consistent to date and that didn’t change after moving to the Scott Singleton yard. She won for him last start and has run second twice from three second-up attempts so look for another bold effort. She probably wouldn’t want a rock-hard track though. Miss Powerbelle is also looking to start off in the best possible fashion for her new stable and Cameron Crockett would have been impressed watching her stride to a five-length trial win. She can have the last crack at them here. More Than A Samba hasn’t run a poor race in a while now and Aytobe must be respected.
Bet: Quinella 2, 4.
RACE 5
Can Urbino carry 61.5kg and win over 2200m? He’ll certainly run the trip and has been good without winning of late and only carries 1kg more than Savvy Crown so it’s hard to see him not being in the finish. Savvy Crown either wins or runs nowhere but he wasn’t disgraced in town last time so this is well within reach. Chenin Blanc hasn’t won or placed yet in seven career runs but this is her chance to change that with a top stable behind her. Olympic Gaze looks to have more wins ahead of him and he wants this trip now third-up.
Bet: Olympic Gaze to win.
RACE 6
Another open affair. Jeremy Gask thinks Forever Spotted is a good hope here because she’s been so consistent this time in and gets a dry track again. Kimmylee comes off a second at the provincials and this isn’t any harder. Lochita finds a firmer track now and she’s won at the mile so is a threat third-up where she might be better off the speed. Jazirat won well last time over 1500m and she appears to be enjoying the country lifestyle much more and will eat up every bit of the mile. Miss Kojiki did all but win last start over 1600m. She’s been a bit up and down but is good enough on her day.
Bet: Kimmylee to win.
RACE 7
It doesn’t get any easier to find a standout here. Genkides raced honest at Scone two runs back and ran fifth in town last start and gets a good chance from the gate. Windsweep has only run in town this time in so this will be a welcome relief for her and she gets every hope from an inside draw, which means she won’t be caught three-deep without cover this time. Jericho Beach has almost led all the way and won her past two and she’ll be hard to run down again from barrier one. Tasteful is finally at the races and is one to watch in the parade yard.
Bet: Windsweep to win.
RACE 8
Dalaalaat looks ready to run a race for his new trainer after previously running close behind eventual Group 1 winner Shout The Bar. Mischief Managed ran a good race behind Snitzari over 1000m when fresh last start but is the 1100m still too short? She’s Never Late also gets back on a firmer track and hasn’t raced poor this time in and won at her home track first-up. Fourth Protocol has proved that he won’t be disgraced in this grade and comes into this off a win while Danebrook has been going well enough of late.
Bet: Dalaalaat to win.
