GRAFTON

BEST BET

Race 6, No.5: TARA JASMINE

Unbeaten in all four runs here at her home track with a combined margin of circa 10-lengths. Easy to like.

NEXT BEST

Race 7, No.3: MARKWELL DREAMER

Easy maiden winner first-up then ran way above his $41 starting price when a closing fourth in a deep Class 1 at Port Macquarie behind Street Power no less.

VALUE BET

Race 5, No.1: WINE O’CLOCK

Been in great form since Mark Stewart got hold of him. Won two of three runs here at Grafton.

QUADDIE

Race 4: 4,7,11,13

Race 5: 1,2,6

Race 6: 5

Race 7: 3

Ben Looker has formed a strong combination with trainer John Shelton and they can notch another winner together at Grafton on Tuesday.

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Ben Looker has ridden just over 105 winners for John Shelton; Tara Jasmine could very well be 106 on Tuesday.

ORANGE

BEST BET

Race 2, No.10: SHAZA

Well-bred Written Tycoon granddaughter of NZ Oaks winner Bramble Rose who was spelled after finishing last on debut to In The Congo. Trialling super.

NEXT BEST

Race 3, No.4: COAL CRUSHER

Finished runner-up in all four career runs - each one of them at the provincials. Not hard to find.

VALUE BET

Race 6, No.3: SIR SAVALUCA

Stunning looking black son of Savabeel who will find this a lot easier than the Hoover Lucy midweeker than he ran in 15-days ago.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR ORANGE

RACE 4

Pick The Score wins in the ‘Names Stakes’ being by So You Think out of Footy Fan who wore this same pink/black colours in her five wins. She was quite handy actually. As for Pick The Score, she has been close enough at the finish of her Kembla and Newcastle runs this preparation to get a tick. Smuggler’s Bay ran his rivals off their legs to win his first two then had the misfortune of bumping into Tags at Bathurst. Drawn to win. Dreamline is in the mix.

Bet: Pick The Score to win, quinella 1,2

RACE 5

Ollivander went close to a well-earned win at Narromine on Saturday. Too consistent to leave out, especially in a small field like this one. Kimmylee ran well above her $26 SP when she finished three-lengths behind the above-average Ang Pow at Bathurst. Bucko sticks. Larmour will be better later and over more ground but 1400m - while still fresh - is a plus. A bigger plus is that the Nick Olive trained mare has raced here twice for a win and a third.

Bet: Ollivander to win but if scratched Kimmylee to win

Rory Hutchings rides Ollivander for Garry Lunn and Sir Savaluca for Joe Pride. Picture: AAP Image

RACE 6

Joe Pride has three in at Orange and is a mighty big chance to bag a hat-trick - and will apparently be on course there to savour the moment. Sir Savaluca is the third of the Pride trip to go around; this one is probably the best looking of the three being jet black. Down in class and peaks here third-up. Speaking of down in class, Mistaken Identity had her first start in Enthaar’s Gimcrack and her second in Profiteer’s $2m Inglis Millennium. Elegant Carriage has been trailling well.

Bet: Sir Savaluca to win, exacta 3 to beat 4, box trifecta 3,4,5,8

RACE 7

Missile Magic is a Nick Olive trained mare in the Triple Crown colours. It’s almost impossible to believe that this mare has won just once in 20 starts. That said, she doesn’t have a pattern wholly conducive to winning every time she steps out. So far as Tuesday goes, she is well weighted, drawn nicely, peak fitness, etc. Damreel has been in great form this prep. She could easily get some favours here from the alley with Kayla Nisbet in the saddle. Miss Magnum took part in a good quality Class 1 at Bathurst last start - better than this one.

Bet: Missile Magic each-way, box trifecta 3,4,5,8

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GRAFTON

RACE 4

Blessed Hope was missing a jockey so isn’t a certain starter. Save time by saying that the debut was somewhat encouraging with the extra trip tacked on here. Miles Ahead is such a well-bred horse. His sire won the French Derby, his dam-sire won the Derby and Arc. As for what counts most, Miles Ahead ran a terrific race at Ballina at his first NSW run for new trainer Dwayne Schmidt despite drifting like a hurricane. Persian Beauty is the value runner here. Has come back in good nick by the looks.

Bet: Blessed Hope to win

RACE 5

Wine O’Clock started out life with Patrick Payne in Victoria for whom he raced four times. The NZ-bred gelding has been with Mark Stewart at Inverell for six starts, winning twice, and a neck second at another. The most pertinent point to make about the horse is that both of his wins are here at Grafton. Rose Bouquet is a valuable mare. Why? Her third dam is the great Rose of Kingston whose Secretariat son Kingston Rule won the Cup. Senshi Spirit comes here as a dominant last start leader and winner drawn in box one.

Bet: Wine O’Clock to win, box trifecta 1,2,5,6

Raymond Spokes (picture) will again partner Wine O’Clock for trainer Mark Stewart.

RACE 6

Tara Jasmine is unbeaten in her four runs here at home. Ben Looker is unbeaten on the mare in two of them and they were the easiest of wins you would see. To her undying credit, Tara Jasmine has carried 61kg and won each time; that last one after being last out. This is the big acid test but she’s a bonny mare. Zac Attack has some compelling numbers. The mare has won two of four fresh, she has won two of five here, three of six at the trip and is one win/one second from two at the track/distance. Fair Dinkum could just ambush them late at odds.

Bet: Tara Jasmine to win, exacta 5 to beat 2

RACE 7

Markwell Dreamer has come back in ripper shape for this campaign which kicked off with his getting his maiden monkey off his back in rather emphatic terms at Coffs Harbour on September 12. The next and last time we saw him race was 11-days ago at Port mac where he closed willingly to finish fourth to Street Power who franked the form on Everest day at HQ. Hey Wayne was fifth to Markwell Dancer at Coffs then won (easily) himself at Armidale next start. Prophetess was a very easy maiden winner 16-days ago.

Bet: Markwell Dreamer to win
