HAWKESBURY

BEST BET

Race 7, No.7: GARMISH

This Snitzel colt probably could be racing in town and being competitive so this looks like a race to win. They’re being patient with him and he’s ready to step up in grade and trip here.

NEXT BEST

Race 2, No.7: OUR LANCETTE

She’s yet to win or place in six runs but has good form around her including a close fourth behind Yearning two runs back and that horse went on to win a Group 1.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 2, 5, 6, 11

Race 6: 2, 3, 5, 6

Race 7: 1, 5, 7

Race 8: 1, 2, 3, 4

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Sam Clipperton has a good start to the day with Our Lancette and could end it well and win on Black Wand at big odds in the last.

QUEANBEYAN

BEST BET

Race 7, No.7: STRATUM PRIDE

She should’ve just about won last start and made it two in a row. She got held up badly a few times in the straight and was jogging in behind the leading pack. She’s obviously going very well.

TRAINER TO WATCH

Joe Cleary is always a force here and he’s turning up with a strong team. Bring It Bella, Girls Are Ready and Subtly Spring are the leading contenders.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR QUEANBEYAN

RACE 4

Subtly Spring where he won at two back and perhaps his poor run last time had more to do with dropping back in trip than anything else. He goes back up to 2000m now and he’s won three times here from five attempts. Hilltop Hood ran second here over 2000m last time which would’ve topping him right off for another go at this trip which he’ll be strong over. Mahsinger is on the quick back up which is a good sign after placing at her past three. She should beat most home. Room Number became unsuited by the tempo last time and over raced which force it wide and to the front but it was still a good effort.

Bet: Room Number to win

RACE 5

Pandering is building towards a win and is backing up fairly quickly after running well off a five-week break last time out. Swiss Promise owes the punters one here after being back in from $6.50 to $3.80 at this track last time but caused his own issues in the run. Murkowski raced well above her odds-on debut after not showing much at the trials. Perhaps she’s the type that saves her best for race day. The bad draw is against her. A drier track might help Coupla Days.

Bet: Pandering to win

RACE 6

Todd Smart wants to get Washington Towers to the Snake Gully Cup and he needs to win or go very close here to book his ticket to that race. He went too hard in town last start so put a line through that run. It was a tough day out but Smart feels he’s recovered well from it. Girls Are Ready runs well fresh and would appreciate some rain where Exaggerate is the lightweight danger if he starts in this race. Mookareena finds this easier but is out of form. Milamoo isn’t but is up in grade and down in trip.

Bet: Washington Towers to win

RACE 7

Bring It Bella wasn’t beaten far by Milamoo last time and won at the track two runs back. In fact, all her best runs have come here so she can be relied on to put in a good performance from a nice gate. Stratum Pride couldn’t get a clear crack at them in the straight here last week so forget she ran fifth. She should’ve been fighting out the finish. Sly Song beat her home in that race but a reversal of that result wouldn’t surprise.

Bet: Stratum Pride to win

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR HAWKESBURY

RACE 5

Marbeeba was spelled after running third on debut at Kembla Grange when sent out as a $2.05 chance. She’s trialled up like she can repay the punters at her home track. Wheel also resumes as a gelding and he looked comfortable in his trial at this track too. His form at his first campaign was improving and he may have run sixth of six at Canterbury but was less than two lengths off the winner. The Maxinator has had two trials ahead of this 1000m assignment so they should’ve tightened him right up and he’ll be the one to catch in the straight after a positive ride by Josh Parr. Tempestas might be overs on debut.

Bet: Wheel to win

RACE 6

Showtime Lady is really enjoying her racing this time in and is fourth-up at his home track for the first time after some good runs at Goulburn this time in. She’s had a good grounding for the 1500m here and will race positive from the gate and mat even cross and lead. Can she hold on? Coppersonic won’t have an issue with the trip after winner over it at this track last start but it was a month ago. Cryptogram had her race won a long way out last time at Goulburn and as long as she doesn’t want further than 1500m again she’s right in this. Obvious Step has raced in tougher events than this.

Bet: Cryptogram to win

RACE 7

Garmish nearly went to a metropolitan race yesterday and the Ryan/Alexiou team are confident their Snitzel colt will be back there sooner rather than later. This is a good stepping stone back to city racing. He gets the run of the race from the gate which assures he runs out the 1500m at his first attempt. Caesars Palace has 3.5kg more to carry than Garmish but he should relish stepping up to 1500m now second-up and he’s raced in better events than this in the past so it’s well within his reach. Long Weekend will probably try and lead all the way and he should give a sight fourth-up.

Bet: Garmish to win

RACE 8

Fine Ruby might make it back-to-back wins for the Ryan/Alexiou yard here. He loves racing at Hawkesbury where he won at last week. He hasn’t run worse than third in four runs here. Black Wand is the value runner of the field and any rain would help. Dhakuri comes back to the provincials after not starting well at Warwick Farm last time and being ridden back and it proved too tough an ask. This is easier. Van Gogh probably leads them into the straight.

Bet: Black Wand each way
