Respected form analyst Stephen Brassel looks at the eight-race card at Werribee on Wednesday.
BEST BET
COURT DEEP (Race 7, No.4 — $4.40)
Been racing in peak form and last start led and fought on strongly when second at Bendigo in similar class and speed map suggests moderate tempo will suit.
NEXT BEST
BILLIE DE LUNE (Race 4, No.8 — $2.20)
Should be at her peak after three runs back from a spell and deserves a change of fortune after successive second placings. Extra distance looks ideal.
JAPERY (Race 8, No.6 — $3.30)
Impressive winning at Wangaratta when resuming then into the city and fourth of seven in better race than this after racing wide with no cover throughout.
THE FELON (Race 6, No.3 — $4)
Consistent in four starts and two runs this time in training have been good for this. Last time chased strongly when a close third and extra distance should suit.
BEST VALUE
LIMPET (Race 2, No.6 — $5.50)
Fitter for one run back from a spell when beaten just over four lengths and third at Caulfield and suited extra distance and drawn perfectly.
THE JOCKEY
JOHN ALLEN
Has five rides and three for the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace yard but he’s double booked in the seventh so will need to wait until scratchings to know which one he’s legged aboard. Solid book and expecting at least a couple of winners. QUINTELLO (Race 3, No.13 — $5), BILLIE DE LUNE (Race 4, No.8 — $2.20), KAZOOM (Race 5, No.5 — $11), INDUSTRIAL (Race 6, No.7 — $7), COURT DEEP (Race 7, No.4 — $4.40), BROTHER IN ARMS (Race 7, No.16 — $14).
THIS WEEK
Thursday – Echuca, Warrnambool, Friday – Flemington, Kyneton (Non TAB), Burrumbeet, Mornington, Merton (Picnic), Saturday – Caulfield, Terang, Woolamai (Picnic), Sunday – Benalla, Sale.
