BEST BET

Race 6, No.6: AWESOME WONDER

This filly is so well-bred being by Galileo out of Group 1 winner Nechita who won in fine fashion here first-up and is more than ready to take the next step.

NEXT BEST

Race 9, No.1:XPRESSO

He smashed them first-up at his second career run and had plenty on hand over the final 100m which bodes well for this rise in grade.

VALUE BET

Race 1, No.4:LUISANA

She didn’t do too much in her barrier trial but is worth a gamble at double figure odds with a very powerful team behind her.

QUADDIE

Race 6: 3, 6

Race 7: 1, 2, 5

Race 8: 2, 5, 7, 10

Race 9: 1

TRAINER TO WATCH

Peter and Paul Snowden look to have good chances with Dubai Showgirl, Luisana and Secret Revolution.

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Lee Magorrian can have a good end to the day in the final two races with Podium and Xpresso.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WYONG

RACE 1

A weak race to kick off the day. Dubai Showgirl has run second here at her only start and her racing pattern should suit this circuit and an on-speed runner. She might look to pinch it and a leading jockey is now on. Citric should be an improver here second-up. It’s hard to win fresh on these bog tracks and you need to be fit and he will be better now. Uncaged hasn’t run here before but his on-pace style will suit here and he’s definitely improving now from a much better barrier draw. Luisana is by Sebring so should handle the wet track and might be worth taking a chance on in an average race and the Snowdens have Clipperton on which has proven to be a strong combination for a while now.

Bet: Luisana each way.

RACE 2

Secret Revolution returns from a spell and faces his easiest race to date after running into Slipper winner Fireburn on New Year’s Day and is now a gelding and trialled up very well so expect a good performance here. Economics ran into trouble a few times in the home straight on debut at Muswellbrook and probably would’ve almost won with clear air so don’t underestimate him in town. Hawaii Five Oh ran along well in a barrier trial and is in good hands.

Bet: Secret Revolution to win.

RACE 3

Lucky Variety won her latest barrier trial under a tight hold and we’ll find out what’s truly under the bonnet here but she looks promising. Silentsar has a start under her belt and should take plenty out of the city run and be on the speed and should be in it for a long way. Bernasconi was given a fairly typical Team Hawkes trial and has drawn well for his debut run and Brenton Avdulla has been on him at his past two heats.

Bet: Lucky Variety to win.

RACE 4

Glacier Queen looks well placed at 1100m fresh and has a lugging bit for the first time under new trainer David Pfieffer. She’s drawn awkward which is the issue but looks like a good chance. Kimura was also nominated for a much stronger race than this but is on debut and this looks much more suitable. Not many horses go from a Cowra second to a provincial win but Sabiette was strong in the bus last time despite being caught wide and this isn’t a step too far.

Bet: Glacier Queen to win.

RACE 5

It’s hard to be impressed by the barrier trial of Conspiracist ahead of his debut run for Team Hawkes. They’ve put the tongue tie on for the first time and he’s drawn to get a good run in transit. Diamond Flare hasn’t run for a year since his debut run which was fourth to Group 1 winner In The Congo and he’s trialled up very well and is a grey by Deep Field so should handle a wet track. James McDonald has trialled up Backrower on all three occasions in his career and rides him on debut here which is a good sign.

Bet: Conspiracist to win.

RACE 6

Awesome Warrior should start odds-on here and is very well-bred by Galileo out of Group 1 winner Nechita. So there’s speed in her legs with staying blood and speed of the sire. She looked no chance at her Australian debut here over 1600m but produced a fantastic last 600m to win and 2000m now only looks better. The one to beat. Thailand will run the trip right out and is at his best distance but has won once from 16 starts. Vandelay Style and Cupid’s Kiss look he next best

Bet: Awesome Warrior to win.

RACE 7

Duke Of Gordon shoots for three straight and his past two wins have been at this track on big tracks and he’s only got better this time in and looks placed to do it again. Star Sparks looks to lead here and is fitter and is better placed at this track. Fields Of Honour sits just behind the leader and performs well second-up and drops back to provincial racing. Alastor also drops back in grade here as a double figure shot.

Bet: Duke Of Gordon to win.

RACE 8

Podium did what punters thought he’d do fresh and win well and that run will have him fitter for this tough heavy track test and he gets the cushy run from the draw. Shotgun Alli raced well at Newcastle last start off a month’s break and she’s placed to go one better here. Bob’s Your Uncle has been running in better races than this of late and has performed well at this track in the past.

Bet: Podium to win.

RACE 9

Xpresso hammered them at Gosford first-up and won eased down by more than three lengths as a $1.30 favourite. This is obviously harder but considering how well it won last time it’s a winnable race again. Mobstar returns off a 25-week break and he’s already shown enough to be a chance here as is One Way Street who won here two weeks ago when leading and that will be the plan again.

Bet: Xpresso to win.
