CANTERBURY
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph)
SPATSIZI
Race 5, No. 5
Trainer Chris Waller has a smart three-year-old here, who has won his past two runs in good style. After winning a maiden at Hawkesbury, he lasted to score narrowly over 1550m at Canterbury on November 7. Progressive type who can continue on his winning way.
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph)
INVOLVING
Race 1, No. 2
Is hard to go past following sound recent form including runner-up to Ghisoni at Warwick Farm last month. That form has since been franked by Ghisoni at Rosehill last weekend. If you can secure black odds, double your bet.
RAY HICKSON (Sportsman)
BAROOD
Race 2, No. 2
Simply found himself too far back on debut but attacked the line strongly in what has been a good form race. Barrier one is a plus and he should go close.
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman)
DIVINE SANCTION
Race 3, No. 1
Honestly, this horse could end up in an ATC Derby in the autumn and, dare I say, even the Caulfield and/or Melbourne Cups. He is by a Galileo son in Teofilo and out of a mare by Arc winner Suave Dancer. The second dam is by At Talaq. This is the family of a Golden Slipper winner (Phelan Ready) but there is so much classic blood coursing through this gelding’s veins. Have a look at him as a type, too, he’s deadset your archetypical stayer. Gosh, he covers a lot of ground very quickly. His stride is HUGE! I just hope he can get himself around Canterbury.
SANDOWN (Hillside)
ROD NICHOLSON (Herald Sun)
HEZA CHAKA
Race 6, No. 9
Has won only a Terang maiden in April but nice type who has returned in good style at trackwork. The 1300m looks ideal for the well-bred now gelding.
BALAKLAVA
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser)
ROCK OUT
Race 6, No. 2
Handy mare was placed behind the speedy I Am Gypsy two starts back before again chasing her home at Morphettville last time. She won three races in town earlier in the year and defeated Last Day at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day. Class runner and gets her chance here fresh.
