OUR experts give you an early shot at finding that elusive midweek winner.

WEDNESDAY MEETINGS: Sandown — Hillside (8 races, 1pm), Balaklava (9 races, 1.08pm), Sunshine Coast (8 races, 1.20pm), Canterbury (7 races, 1.45pm), Belmont (9 races, 2.34pm).

CANTERBURY

SPORTSMAN PREVIEW: CANTERBURY

BRAD DAVIDSON (Daily Telegraph)

GLENALL

Race 2, No. 4

Les Bridge-prepared colt who has been trialling very well in the lead up to his debut. He has been scratched several times from wide gates and finally comes up with a good draw here. Should lead and prove hard to catch.

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph)

CLEVEDON BAY

Race 4, No. 7

Was luckless when she resumed at Gosford first-up. Kris Lees stable is flying and she can go to another level here. Rates highly.

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman)

TYPECAST

Race 7, No. 6

Resumes in a decent race. I am not saying she’s a moral but, honestly, I have seen a few trials and I just don’t see that many where a horse trials as well as Typecast has been that comes out and runs badly on raceday. I think punters will fall over themselves to back this mare. Seriously, go and watch the trial(s) then look at her wins/runs. She’s a terrific horse.

SANDOWN (HILLSIDE)

SPORTSMAN PREVIEW: SANDOWN

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)

MY POPPETTE

Race 4, No. 4

Top class mare resuming from a spell. Sprints well fresh and should be suited by the long run home.

BALAKLAVA

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser)

NORTHERN LASS

Race 2, No. 12

Plenty to like about her first-up run behind Mystified then she gave her rivals a big start before running on smartly to be beaten just over two lengths. Her Morphettville trial previously was very good, she draws perfectly and is in the hands of top trainer Tony McEvoy. Looks a bank builder for Balaklava Cup Day.

SUNSHINE COAST

BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail)

TIBROGARGAN MISS

Race 1, No. 7

A real speedster who led another real speedster, the classy Hidden Pearl, last start. Will show them a clean set of hooves here. Prior form is quite simply better than that of her rivals in this race.
