NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph)
DARK STEEL
Race 1, No. 4
Has much more race sense than he did last campaign and his work has been better than midweek standard. He should be winning this unless one of these two first starters is loaded with ability. Just wait for a price as they’ll keep him safe early in betting.
STEPEHN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph)
MURAQABA
Race 6, No. 8
This four-year-old from the Anthony Cummings yard has raced twice for two wins and is ready to take the next step here. Ran away to win over a mile at Wyong last start and from gate one here should get a great run in transit.
SHAYNE O’CASS (The Sportsman)
KIPLING
Race 4, No. 4
He was poleaxed here first-up last prep when there was good money for him in an 1100M Bm70. This is also an 1100m Bm70 over 1100m at Canterbury. It’s so obvious to me that Chris Waller and his team have picked this race out for him from a while back. The trial? Last of 8 but seriously, he was going half pace the whole way and looked like he might take off if Hugh Bowman had of dug him up

ROD NICHOLSON (Herald Sun)
KANSAS SUNFLOWER
Race 8, No. 12
Super efforts behind Raposa at Flemington (1600m) and then behind Abidewithme and Set Square at Caulfield over 1400m. Back up to 1600m and down in class here. Only drawback is the horror barrier.
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)
FIREHOUSE ROCK
Race 8, No. 6
Classy galloper who returned as a gelding this campaign. Ran on strongly at his second run back from a spell when second to Extra Noble at Sandown last start. Group 2 placegetter who looks suited in a Benchmark 78.

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser)
CHONDRA
Race 8, No. 6
Did all the work outside the leader and winner — boom filly Miss Gunpowder — last time. Placed at her previous two outings in town and looks to get her chance here. The big worry is she’s only won one of 34 starts and that win was just two days shy of two years ago.
