Hall of Fame jockey Jim Cassidy has been hospitalised after a head-on car crash on Saturday.
Hall of Fame jockey Jim Cassidy has had a miraculous escape from a serious head-on car accident on Saturday.
Cassidy was returning home from a golf charity event when he was involved in accident near Pitt Town on Sydney’s north-western outskirts.
The 53-year-old suffered head injuries in the incident and remains in hospital.
Cassidy was being assessed by doctors late Sunday with fears he may have some bleeding on the brain.
His wife, Vicki Cassidy, said the retired riding legend was otherwise in good spirits and hopeful of being released from hospital in the next few days.
Mrs Cassidy said it was lucky her husband was driving a larger SUV vehicle or the incident could have been a lot worse.
Cassidy remains one of the all-time great jockeys with 104 Group 1 wins including two Melbourne Cups on Kiwi (1997) and Might And Power (1997), two Caulfield Cups on Might And Power (1997) and Diatribe (2000), Cox Plate on Might And Power (1997) and the Golden Slipper on Ha Ha (2001).
