HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS

RANDWICK

NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 50181

HEARTLINGS

Race 4, No. 9

Doesn’t stay. It’s that simple so you have to scratch out her recent runs and assess her on her runs three starts back when beaten 2-1/2 lengths by Ghisoni at Group 2 level.

TAB Fixed Odds: $11

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 234x6

FEDERAL

Race 6, No. 10

They don’t come much more consistent than this gelding, who racked up win No. 4 (with four placings) from 10 starts to date, when winning at Rosehill on March 26. Can repeat the dose here and there should be plenty of money for him come raceday.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 97040

TALES OF GRIMM

Race 9, No. 8

Boasts a fantastic strike rate first-up and although would appear awkwardly drawn, his normal pattern is to get back and charge home. Chances will hinge on how the track is playing but I’m prepared to put my money where my mouth is and say he’ll come down the grandstand side with a jet-propelled rush.

TAB Fixed Odds: $15

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 65730

GOLDSTREAM

Race 7, No. 5

Kris Lees has trialled the Italian-bred horse twice — he ran second to Lucia Valentina in a 1000m Beaumont heat on March 1 then a nose second to another stablemate, Vanderkemp, in a second 1000m heat at the same venue on March 29. Both were ‘ticks’ for a 1400m first-up race. Looks very good each-way value.

TAB Fixed Odds: $12

DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 04195

MY FAVORITE

Race 6, No. 12

Former Hong Kong galloper landed first Australian win at Kembla last month before being given freshen-up. Has missed a place only once in nine starts. Has strong claims again.

TAB Fixed Odds: $10

MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 311x0

ANDRASSY

Race 9, No. 16

Resuming. Good fresh and had solid form in good races last prep.

TAB Fixed Odds: $15

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 28418

APPROVED ANGER

Race 5, No. 7

This looks a Darren Weir project. Raced on speed and sprinted away to win a strong Maiden at Sandown last start. Up in grade but at $12 worth a speck.

TAB Fixed Odds: $12

DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun) Form: 38618

ZEBRINZ

Race 4, No. 2

Melham can tuck him away from the inside gate and come with a late burst. Was caught out by a hot pace behind Charmed Harmony last start and will be better suited to 1600m.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 13802

PRECIOUS GEM

Race 8, No. 8

Probably will be racing for luck late with rail out 9m sure to suit frontrunners, but cannot be ignored.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 83210

JILEKS SPUR

Race 1, No. 1

On a jumping path but did win this race impressively last year and looks a tremendous each-way bet at double figure odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7

TOOWOOMBA

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 49204

JUMBO PRINCE

Race 7, No. 4

Better known over longer trips, but best form last prep came early on. Has a super fresh record and excellent stats at the distance. Is best on wet ground and though the track will be trying, still should get some cut out of the ground. Obviously the fav Coolring has formlines that say he is hard to beat, but home-ground advantage is worth a fortune around this track.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7

MORPHETTVILLE

BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 36565

SMART MANOUEVRE

Race 6, No. 11

Talented filly who was well in the market and far from disgraced first-up when fourth here a fortnight ago. Should be improved by that effort and it’d be no surprise to see her measure up against the stronger opposition here at good each-way odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $6.50

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: x1338

BEAUTIFUL FLYER

Race 4, No. 1

Impressive winning here two starts before coming from back in the field and beating all but Beau Rivage last time. Tricky barrier but is in well with the claim and is a horse with upside and looks nice each-way value.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8

MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS

ASCOT

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 54811

WHO DAT SINGA

Race 7, No. 2

A dominant winner last start over 2200m when he was eased up near the finishing post and had two lengths to spare. The 2400m of the WA Derby should be no problem and he has the gate speed to overcome the wide draw.

TAB fixed odds: $4.20
