The annual jockey exodus south for the Melbourne spring will force two key jockey changes to leading contenders in Saturday’s $1 million Bondi Stakes with Tommy Berry and Nash Rawiller the big winners.
Berry will ride $4 second elect Prime Star in the lucrative three-year-old mile with Kerrin McEvoy already quarantining in Melbourne as he prepares to ride Probabeel in the $5 million Cox Plate at the Valley.
Prime Star made up enormous ground from the back when finishing runner-up to Bondi Stakes favourite Peltzer last start in the Group 3 Stan Fox Stakes.

Tim Clark will stick with Peltzer for Saturday’s Randwick feature.
The John O’Shea-trained Acrophobic also ran on well in the Stan Fox Stakes when finishing fourth and Rawiller will ride the colt in his spring grand final.
Jockey James McDonald has ridden Acrophobic in all five of his previous starts but has also headed to Melbourne to ride Kolding in the Cox Plate.
Acrophobic is a $6 chance for the Bondi Stakes with Peltzer the $2.80 favourite.
The final field for the Bondi Stakes will be declared on Wednesday morning.
The race is being staged for just the second time. Jockey Brenton Avdulla and trainer Chris Waller combined to win the race with Kubrick in 2019.
