How to tune in to watch the Cup if you can’t be trackside

HOW to watch the 2016 Melbourne Cup live on TV, the internet and overseas.

How to pick a winning horse

SO you can’t be trackside, but you don’t want to miss a minute of the Melbourne Cup. Here’s how to watch it live — even if you don’t have access to a TV — when the field jumps on Tuesday.

What time’s the race?

The Melbourne Cup field jumps at 3pm (AEDT) Tuesday, November 1, so have your viewing vantage point, be it in front of the box, or online by, then.

What channel on free-to-air TV?

Channel Seven will again broadcast the Melbourne Cup, live. Cup day coverage, including all the lead-up races, starts at 10am (AEDT).

How to watch Channel 7’s coverage online:

No TV? No problem. Live stream the coverage on PLUS7 on Channel 7’s website. And yes, there’s also an app for that.

Watch on Foxtel:

The race will also be live on Fox Sports — via Sky Racing 1 (channel 519) and Racing.com (channel 529.)

Watch on Twitter ... anywhere:

The Cup has gone truly global, and will be streamed live on Twitter internationally. Just head here at 3pm. This is also the best way to watch from overseas, if you don’t have the right internet set-up for the Channel 7 coverage abroad.

How to pick the winner:

All care, no responsibility, but we reckon our form guide, here, is a good start. At the very least, you’ll be able to talk the talk.
