Foreign raiders' multi-million dollar flight for spring riches

WERRIBEE International Horse Centre's barns will be at virtual capacity from Saturday as 11 more northern raiders prepare to fly into Melbourne for the Spring Carnival.

A flight will leave England tonight carrying a planeful of seriously expensive horse flesh, featuring stayers who have collectively won more than $15 million in prizemoney.

2011 Melbourne Cup and 2012 Caulfield Cup winner Dunaden, Mount Athos, Red Cadeaux, Voleuse De Coeurs, Verema, Shikarpour, Havana Gold, Brown Panther, Caravan Rolls On, Tres Blue and Stipulate will all be on board.

The latest shipment will bid to emulate the fine start made by Trevieres (second in the Toorak Handicap), Simenon (third in the Herbert Power) and Ruscello (second at Caulfield yesterday).

As Dandino vies to overcome a wide Caulfield Cup gate and first emergency Forgotten Voice's connections sweat on a start in the 2400m Group 1, a small of army of European and British challenges will be heading south.

Mount Athos, fifth in last season's Melbourne Cup, and globetrotting Red Cadeaux, join Dunaden for another Australian tilt.

Also travelling is boom Irish mare Voleuse de Coeurs, who is bound for Mike Moroney's stable.

Tress Blue will switch to Gai Waterhouse's stable, while David Hayes takes voer Stipulate ahead of an Emirates Stakes tilt.

France-trained Verema and Shikarpour will make the flight along with Havana Gold, Caravan Rolls On and Brown Panther, who is owned by former English football star Michael Owen.

Godolphin's Royal Empire will travel to Australia on a separate flight.

Dandino, Forgotten Voice, Simenon, Lucky Nine and Trevieres worked lightly at Werribee today.
