WARWICK FARM
NIC ASHMAN (The Daily Telegraph)
KIMBERLEY STAR
Race 3, No. 10
Not going bad enough to sack but also proving costly. Step up to 1300m looks ideal after watching her race last week.
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (The Daily Telegraph)
CABALISTIC
Race 4, No. 2
A lightly-raced gelding trained by John O’Shea, he showed his worth when storming home to beat subsequent Saturday winner Maurus over this course and distance on June 3. Up in weight here but has the 1.5kg claim for Rory Hutchings and will get a charmed run from gate two. Will be hitting the line harder than most of his rivals.
JOHN DAVIS (The Daily Telegraph)
KIMBERLEY STAR
Race 3, No. 10
Kimberley Star is always thereabouts and strikes a winnable late season juvenile sprint here. Was not disgraced on a bog at Canterbury last time and the drier conditions here could reap pay dirt.
SHAYNE O’CASS (The Sportsman)
MARAAM
Race 3, No. 11
Maraam is a $1.05m Easter Yearling purchase that has trialled exceedingly well in her two heats last month. She is a superbly bred Street Cry filly from one of the great families in the Stud Book and trained by the astute father/son duo of Peter and Paul Snowden. Has a future.
BALLARAT
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)
IL CAVALLO
Race 3, No. 2
Gifted sprinter resuming. Has a big weight but flies fresh and handles the wet.
MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser)
YEN
Race 4, No. 6
This mare certainly doesn’t win out of turn (one win from 16 starts) and has been a beaten favourite at her past couple. But she’s well-suited in this grade and should be reasonably placed from barrier two with Matthew Neilson in the saddle. This looks her day.
